It was a dark afternoon, cloudy and woeful. The rain wouldn't stop pattering on the windows, and the thunder was so loud that you'd think the sky was screaming, begging for something. Yet, Nivia never wanted it to end. It was the only thing keeping her sane. Sitting by the window and just staring at the several different patterns of the lightning, counting the little droplets of rain that landed on her window and then watching them race each other all the way down just to rejoice once again. The loud booming of the thunder that she waited for after seeing a streak of lightning, drowning out all her thoughts and just feeling so soothed. She closed her eyes, listening carefully and started thinking about how she thanked god everyday that she lived in a rainy state. But, as always, the tranquility never lasts forever.
