when people talk about me,
do they call me a 'monster',
or just a human being?

when I commit a crime, I am free,
but when she does it,
why is it always considered a calculated crime
towards people like me?

no one ever tells me what to do,
they think I know it all,
that when I fail,
the world, for me, won't fall apart.

they think that I am the one who does those things,
the things people 'shush' and talk about,
which ruins her body and face,
and is considered, for her, a disgrace.

They don't know that I am not that person,
that everything is the same for me,
that I fall apart every day,
thinking i could have saved her in any way?

they call me a 'boy', a 'male', a 'man',
because when I grow up,
I will have to 'man up'
otherwise breathing is just a waste, isn't it?

because at the end of the day,
I will be a monster,
a monster who tried hard to save someone,
but ended up drowning himself,
not being able to man up after all.

-about-

written: january 7, 2021

This poem is one of the first few that I had written. I was thinking of a prompt when I thought how all the boys are considered so bad even though some of them are not like that. What I've done in this poem is represent a boy in his natural phase where he's told to 'man up' and that's all he is expected to do. If you know, you know. This poem is very deep so if you're able to get it, good job.
P.S. there will be a second part to this poem.

-anyways, thanks for reading, people! do vote and comment if you liked it.-
