Epilogue

At dawn, miles upstream, an exhausted, sopping wet man crawled out of the Thames and collapsed onto a flat, sandy bank. His trousers were torn, burns decorated his arms and face. He was hat and shoeless. Only the birds with their lively chirps were there to greet him.

For a long time, he lay on his back staring at the gradually lightening sky, mumbling to himself.

Then he got slowly to his feet, brushed down his clothes and hobbled off.

Destination unknown.

THE END

Thank you very very much for having come along on this adventure with me  (Berengaria), Amelia, Godwin and the rest of the Masterminds. We hope you enjoyed the evening's performance!

*the author and cast assembles on the Royston Dinner Theatre stage and takes a bow. The band strikes up Rule Britannia and Susie the Dancing Pig trots forward to perform a dainty waltz, pink tutu and all,  as the cogs spin and the curtain closes *
