Xavier leaves early for practice. So I take my time getting ready after he's left and make my way down for breakfast with my dad.

"Good morning, sweetheart," he smiles.

"Morning, dad," I smile back, get myself some French toast. I eat, contemplating how I should bring this up as I watch him working through some papers.

"Dad?" I ask.

"Yes, honey?" He looks up.

"I need to talk to you about something," I say softly.

He removed his glasses, looking at me in concern. "What is it?"

I swallow hard. I hope Xavier doesn't mind me sharing this with dad, because he won't judge my baby. "It's about Xavier," I start.

"Okay," he says uncertainly.

"You know how Joshua married Sofia some time ago?"

"Xavier's step-mother?" He asks.

I nod. Then hesitate. Then decide to rip the bandaid. "She harassed Xavier while he was asleep." He told me everything last night, because he'd been embarrassed to tell me all the details before.

"What?" Dad rages.

"I know," I whisper. "He told me he saw her in his room, smiling at him last to last Saturday. He said he found her naked in his room the following Thursday. She stole his t-shirts, even, because he started staying at their beach house to get away from her. I've got a video of her propositioning him, but he said she has recorded him while he was sleeping. And in it, she was, in fact, touching him."

With each word out my mouth, dad grows tense. "And this has been happening ever since Josh married her?"

I shake my head. "He told me it was recently, that she started looking at him the wrong way. But he doesn't know how to talk to his dad. He's barely there for Xavier," my heart hurts for him as I speak. He's so strong for handling this on his own for so long. "He even told me that Sofia and her daughters make fun of his mom, and he's been tolerating that for years. I can't stand it, dad. I need him to feel safe in his own home."

Dad nods. "What does Xavier think we should do?"

"I told him I'll take care of her," I say. "And I want to. We need her gone. She's a vicious woman, and her daughters aren't any better."

Dad nods again. "It's a crime to record someone without their permission. But I don't think Xavier would like to have this aired out to everyone by filing it to the police."

I shake my head. "We need to be lowkey about it. She needs to go of her own accord. But she does have a video, so she might release it, damaging Xavier's reputation."

Dad goes into thought. "Hmm," he thinks. "Can you show me the proof of her that you recorded?"

I take my phone out and show him. He grunts in disgust through the video, and I reign in my anger.

"She asked him to break up with me before. Said she could destroy my life if she wanted by saying I released that video of Xavier, which confirmed to Xavier that he'd been recorded. She didn't show him proof, but I don't think she'd lie about this. She's blackmailing him, dad. She called last night to check where he was, and said she didn't like him away from her."

This all makes me sick to my stomach.

"Fuck," dad frowns. "Alright. I'll hire a PI. We need Xavier's permission, of course, but I'll have everything ready for him to look over."
