I remember some of last night.
I don't remember how I got here but I do remember the conversation I had with Teo.
I think I could be black out drunk and still remember that. My heart broke.
He thought it was invalid. He's convinced himself for the last five years that it didn't happen. So much so he didn't tell anyone.
But it did happen.
It happened to him.
He's right, we here constantly about this thing happening to women but it's something we don't hear often when it comes to men and it's wrong.
Man, female or whatever gender you are doesn't change the fact there are still cruel people in this world that will take advantage despite your gender.
That's the society we're in and it fucking sucks ass.
We're suppose to be in better times. This is supposed to be equality but how come because of someone's gender we make assumptions on who the victim is.
How come we live in a world where different races are treated differently when at the end of the day we're all still people.
People with families and friends.
They're human beings.
So tell me why we still have people immediately deciding that because of someone's gender, they are immediately judged and labelled as a victim or perpetrator.
Tell me why because of the colour of someone's skin we think it's okay to restrain them and treat them differently when all they were trying to do is get home.
Home.
Their home, with their families.
People who do this just don't see other people as humans, they see people as a 'stereotype'. And it drives me insane.
This is the twenty first century, we're suppose to have progressed and now people like Matt don't tell anyone about their trauma because he knows that people think men can't be assaulted.
It doesn't matter your gender, your sexuality or your race. We're people. We're suppose to be looking out for each other not ruining someone's life by making ridiculous assumptions about someone based on who they are.
They say don't judge a book by it's cover.
I say never judge people on a stereotype.
You need to see the whole person because how they look or are, is irrelevant, what's relevant is their trauma.
