(earlier that day, after dropping off Felix and Orief)
I fear some days that being the right hand for my best friend, the king will give me early grey hair. When he found his mate I thought I could go half-half on worries. And while I am relieved to some degree, they together are another forest fire I would like to stay away from, please.
Their firepower however was the reason I could walk out of the forest with significantly less fear. I sent a quick prayer to the moon goddess for their safety and took out my phone to check who was going to pick me up from this place.
Technically I could return in the car we came in but Felix had told me to just take her stuff from the glove box and ask someone else to pick me up. She said that the car should be here in case of any emergency. And while it didn't make complete sense to me and felt like I was missing something. But what I didn't miss was the discreet wink she sent when I looked at her so like a loyal supporter to our almost-crowned Queen, I enthusiastically agreed.
Lately, I felt like I was missing something crucial. Like there is a haze around me but I just need some information to make sense of this situation.
My phone alerted me that it would be Minister Conti coming to pick me up. He said he would be here in 40 min. So I decided to empty the glove box.
I opened the passenger seat door and sat inside. I closed the door to prevent snow from coming in.
The glove box was filled with stuff. So I started taking it out. Sunglasses, pills, chocolate, lighter, empty packets of snacks. It was shocking that for a clean person like Felix, the car she kept was so dirty.
Wait? This is not Felix's car. It was the council's car. Then why was I supposed to empty the glove box when Felix didn't even sit in the passenger seat?
I began to carefully put the stuff down on the floor of the car, not even tossing the trash. Hoping to find any anomaly. I opened the crumpled packets and sure enough, there was a paper rolled into a ball inside one of them.
I quickly opened the crumpled piece of paper.
Relax Acimer. Close the window and then read further. Someone is watching.
I tamped down the urge to do exactly the opposite of relax and slowly pretended to throw out the trash and pocket the stuff. Cursing Felix in my heart, I then reclined the seat and laid down to 'sleep'.
Once I was sure I was hidden enough, I opened the letter again.

Fuck! Conti. Maynard Conti. It's hard to believe he would betray us but I trust Felix completely.
I close my eyes to calm down when I pick up some trees in the distance moving from the tinted glass of the car window. I wouldn't have thought much of it but I know Felix said someone is watching.
So I got out of the car and discreetly glanced under the car. Sure enough, it had explosives attached to it. Which made me realise the length at which Felix had done preparations.
Conti sent me another text saying he would be late. Of course, the traitor needs to make sure everything is running smoothly.
Finding nothing better to do, I decided to follow the trail left by the stalker who had run away after I opened the car door. It took me a while to appear near a group of tents that were pitched. I must have been at the back of the tent group because there was a cauldron of something boiling and a frantic person adding stuff to it.
I saw the uniform of DeLarge soldiers and knew it was the enemy camp. So as soon as the little chef left the cauldron and scurried away, I sneaked near the boiling solution and poured the entire bottle of my potion which I always carried.
I had been working on it since the last time I gave it to Oreif and Felix and I was hoping to stir up trouble for them.
I wanted to investigate further and fuck shit up but I was running out of time and also I don't wanna ruin a Feli'x plan. So like the good husband I am I just sneaked a picture of the enemy dugout for my wife to enjoy later. And returned to my spot. After all the queen wanted a game of pretend and I don't disappoint our queen.
