6 months before: the party

Drugs.

I could feel the powder pulsing through my veins, intoxicating me with the addictive substance.

I could hear the strangers around me. "Go easy on it." They said. I could barely make out their faces anymore.

I brushed away their ignorance, leaning over the dirty table and sniffing another line.

I tilted my head back, letting the feeling of adrenaline rush through me and drip down my throat like a shooting star in the night sky.

The stars dazzled in front of me, blinding my vision, and my head spun as if the entire universe was trembling.

They called for me, but I let it consume my entire being.

I wanted it to.

They continued to call to me until their voices were hardly audible, and until every star in my vision burnt out into the void.
