SO, GRAYSON, WHAT'S YOUR BIGGEST MISTAKE WHEN WRITING A BOOK? Uh, it'd have to be editing a chapter as I write it.

     DON'T DO IT! DON'T!

I've nearly lost my mind trying to edit a chapter as I write it. All that happens is I get more confused and frustrated because my perfectionist side pops out and wants it to be flawless. Then, I get so annoyed with myself that I just stop writing altogether.

What I've learned to do is to break down my chapters into sections and simplify them. By this, I mean I space everything out and write a short caption for what's happening in a particular scene and then write the scene out underneath it. In doing this, it helps me organize my work and lessens the amount of stress and anxiety I feel about having to write everything out right then and there perfectly.

Once I've broken everything up and written the scenes, I add them all together in the order they're meant to be in the chapter and read it over twice. As I'm reading, I take this time to change some sentences' wording, tone, and punctuation and correct my spelling.

After I've done this, I run it all through Grammarly, a free browser extension that you can download that will spell-check your writing and all of that stuff. I don't have the premium version of Grammarly because I'm a broke college student and barely have enough money to buy food half the time. However, if you can afford the premium version, get it! That's the best way to edit your chapters once you're done.

The sooner you learn not to edit as you go, the faster you'll be able to finish chapters and update your books! This was super short, but I thought it was important to make others aware of it!
