Dot Richardson was born in Orlando,Florida on September 22nd 1961 her full name is Dorthy Gay Richardson.She spent her early years at multiple military bases because her father was a Air Force mechanic.
Dot Richardson began her softball career in 1972 playing for the Union Park Jets in Orlando.When she was 13 in 1975 she was a member of Orlando Rebels ASA (Amatuer Softball Association.),She became the youngest player to ever play in the ASA Womens Major Fast-Pitch National Championships.
Dot Richardson went to three different Universities to get a better education,The Universities were,University of Southern Californa,Western Illinois University,and University of Californa Los Angeles.She attended Western Illinois University one year and University of Southern Californa along with University of Californa Los Angeles for four years.
In 1996 and 2000 she was apart of a team that won the Olympics.In 1996 she played the Olympic games In Atlanta.The games marked the debut of softball and the U.S. team dominated.Dot Richardson hit a two-run home run that sealed the teams gold-medal win.In 2000 she claimed another gold medal as a member of the U.S. team.
She is now 62 and is a softball coach for the women's softball team at Liberty University.
