My parents had officially gone mad

My parents had officially gone mad. The celebration of their thirtieth year of marriage had done it; it had broken them.

Over a hundred people were coming to celebrate the milestone, from distant relatives to colleagues, as well as the extended neighborhood. Anyone they kinda knew was coming, and this meant our usual chill day of Christmas was a no-go. Kate even joined us in the afternoon, ditching her family on this special day to help us out.

We spent the day cooking and moving around furniture to prepare everything. The house was comfortable, but not large enough for all those people to be crammed in there. Nevertheless, we did our best.

Maria Carmen was great at bossing us around, so she was in charge of organization while we did the rest. By the end of the 25th, we were all exhausted, but almost everything was ready for our numerous guests. People would start arriving late in the afternoon the next day, and we barely had anything left to do for that. After a quick dinner, Kate and Ty left, and we all went to get ready for bed.

Later that night, I was all cuddled up with Lex on mine, watching the rain endlessly pour outside. To my great disappointment, our morning slexcapade hadn't gone unnoticed. Coming down much after everyone else had left no room as to what we'd been doing in my room. Also, MC had playfully taunted me for not knocking on the wall, as instructed.

My great embarrassment had been soothed by the fact that no one was weird about it. Yes, they'd teased, but they all accepted that Lex and I had a sex life. Which kind of made sense and was perfectly normal, but my reserve was still making it uncomfortable for me.

"I bet you must have regretted not being in Switzerland at some point today," I told Lex, my cheek on his chest.

"Not for a single moment, no."

"Really? It was kind of intense, though. It wasn't really your job to do all this, but thank you for helping."

"My pleasure. I really like your family, freckles. Even when I was close to Kevin and his family, it wasn't quite like this. In a way, your folks will actually become mine at some point."

"And they are as eager to welcome you in the family as you are to join it," I told him. "Mom told me again how much she liked you today. And MC's infatuation is more than obvious. I haven't taken a moment to talk to dad yet, but I'm sure he feels the same way."

"He calls me 'son' sometimes."

"Really?" I asked, surprised. Looking up, I observed Lex's face, noticing the emotion plastered on it.

"Yeah, it was unsettling at first, but I'm getting used to it now."

"It's not something he says lightly, you know. I don't think I've heard him call anyone that, except Ty. It means he likes you a lot."

"Well, I guess we know which side of the family we'll spend our Holidays with," he humored.

I giggled then grimaced, trying to imagine how awful things could have gone if we'd gone to his family gathering instead. The Walkers were drama-free, but the Colemans seemed to run on schemes and deceptions.
