I'm packaging up Nate's Valentine's gift

I'm packaging up Nate's Valentine's gift.

I was super excited to spend the day with him on Valentine's day. He was planning a bunch of activities because that's how Nate is.

But, I got a call, and we have a game in New York to play the day before Valentine's day.

I'm not exactly sure why they're having us stay an extra night, but unfortunately, we do.

I'm super nervous about his gift.

I have a couple things to pack into a box. It has hearts all over it, and I have red and pink tissue paper inside.

I got him Pride and Prejudice because first, it's one of the best books of all time. Second, he's never read it, which kind of appalls me, to be honest, and third, because he's been asking for some book recommendations, and I keep forgetting to give him some.

I wrote these messages in a bottle for him. They're things that he can read that I wrote for him when he wants, or needs, it. I may or may not have written I love you on the card that's on the bottom of the glass bottle.

There are like at least fifty cards, so I think he'll reach them in a month. Hopefully, I find out by then if he's in love with me or not.

I'm packing up the candy and clothes for him. I had to get some clothes because he needs to become more fashionable. Why do guys that play sports have the worst style?

It's terrible, really.

My last item for him is a picture album of pictures that we've taken over the last seven months, and room for more to add.

I'm not sure if he's going to like the book or the album more.

I'm thinking about giving him his gift tomorrow after practice because we leave early the next morning, and Nate can be quite grumpy in the morning. Especially if I have to leave him for soccer.

We'll see. I hope Nate likes it.

"This is adorable!" Maddie tells me as she looks through the box that I've finally completed.

I've added a couple more things to it, and I think it's ready for tomorrow.

"Really? Is it enough?" I ask as I bring our popcorn out from the microwave. And her M&Ms. She can't eat popcorn without M&Ms. I find that very strange. "Do you think it's sentimental enough?"

She waves me off and takes the candy out of my hands. "Nate will love it," she says before throwing her head back and eating the M&Ms. "Do you have any ideas for what he got you?"

I rack in my brain for ideas that he could have gotten me, but I remember none. "No, I'll be surprised if he gets something-"

"Actually useable?" She finishes my sentence with a question.
