Chapter 28

Manik peeking inside Arjun's study gulped as he is looking very serious.

Manik: "Ya Allah, yeh khadoos commissioner toh ajj hitlergiri pa utaraya...abh mujh jaisa chota bacha ko kon bachayega". He mumbled making a crying face got startled as Arjun's voice came.

Arjun: "Don't stall come inside!". He said without looking up.

Manik took a small step inside, stood far away from him who is very angry and held his ear "Sorry".

Arjun looked at him opened his arms and said " Aaja", Manik flew toward him sobbing, and Arjun caressed his back and make him sit on his lap.

Manik pressed himself more in Arjun's chest earning a chuckle from Arjun.

Arjun: "Shh baby relax baba is here na, everything will be alright". Arjun said in a soft tone like he is talking to a real baby.

Manik: "Baba app gussa ho". Manik said without looking up from his chest.

Arjun smiled at his innocent question, ohh God how much he love his child and his innocence.

Arjun: "Look up Mannu". Arjun said but Manik nuzzle more.

Arjun: "Baby I said look up". Arjun said in a soft tone not having the heart to talk with strictness.

His soft voice make Manik look up, he looked at his innocent eyes which is filled with tears.

Ohh my poor baby💔.

Arjun: "Why are you crying baby I don't say anything to you yet".

Manik: "That's mean you are going to scold me now". Manik said and started to cry again.

Arjun shook his head at his baby's antics to scape from punishment.

Arjun: "No I am not going to punish or scold you at least for now, I want to talk about something important". Arjun said in a serious but soft voice, not to scare his baby more.

Manik: "What is it baba?". Manik asks attentively after hearing his serious tone.

Arjun: "First you relax then I will talk". Arjun said while caressing his back trying to calm him.

Once Arjun feels Manik is calm enough to start the conversation, he starts speaking.

Arjun: "Mannu baby the thing I am going to tell you is very important listen to me calmly then react ok". Arjun said Manik nodded confused.

Arjun took a deep breath and said.

Arjun: "Mannu.. mannu you..you are..you are my brother". Arjun said and looked at Manik who is looking at him with a blank face before bursting into laughter.

Arjun: "What happened?". Arjun asks confused, he expects to cry, scream, and hate but what he doesn't expect is seeing him laughing.

Manik: "You are so funny baba I know we are brothers not blood-related but heart-related, oh God I thought you want to talk something serious🤣🤣". Manik said still laughing.

Ok, he (arjun) understood his way of announcing the truth is not correct.

Arjun: "No, I mean yes we are heart-related but also blood-related I mean mannu you are my real brother". There was dead silence in the room after Arjun's announcement.

Manik: "What?". Said still in shock.

Arjun: "Mannu-". Before Arjun could continue manik got up from his lap pushing his hand.

Arjun got shocked by Manik's move, the known fear grip his heart.

Arjun looked at Manik with vulnerable eyes, the first time after 12 years, the same vulnerability in his eyes that he had 12 years ago when he lose his son, his child, his brother, and his baby.

And again the same vulnerability form in his eyes seeing his baby one act, he can't lose him again, he can't.

Arjun composed himself, not the time to break, he can't break now, he has to handle Manik.

Arjun: "Mannu!".

Manik: "Why?". Manik asks with teary eyes in a low tone, which breaks his heart.

Arjun: "I can explain mannu". Arjun tried to explain, but no use.

Manik: "No you can't, you can't explain anything Mr Rawte!". Manik said and try to run from there but Arjun hold his hand in a tight yet gentle grip and pulled him into his embrace.

Manik: "Leave me, I said leave me Mr Rawte". Manik said and try to get out of his hold but nothing worked as Arjun is more strong than him, after a lot of tries he gave up and let himself fall on Arjun's chest.

Manik: "Please leave... Mr Rawte!". Manik said weekly, and after a lot of tries, he gave up and let himself fall in Arjun's arms.

Arjun: "Shhh relax baby...calm down". Arjun said and make Manik sit on his lap.

Manik: "Please don't leave..don't leave me baba".

Arjun: "Shh..mannu relax baby..I am not going to leave you". Arjun said, taking out an inhaler from the drawer and making Manik take a puff.

After calming down Manik look up at him, and say.

Manik: "Why you don't tell me that I am your brother".

Arjun: "Mujhe khud nahi pata tha bacha, Kuch din pahela (few days) pata chala".

Manik: "Apna mujhe orphanage mein kyun chora". Manik said in a low tone.

Arjun: "What?". Arjun questioned shockingly.

Manik: "I said, why you leave me in the orphanage, app toh bohut ameer (rich) hona, phir why you leave me on the orphanage, is it because I became a burden to you, tell me if it's true I will leave". His nonsense got stopped with a smack on his back.

Manik: "Oww baba🥺🥺".

Arjun: "What baba hain, do I ever say or make you feel like a burden, answer me, man". Manik nodded in no.

Arjun: "Then, aur ghar chor kar gayega, jakar dheka tange na tod dun main teri". Arjun said smacking him again.

Manik: "Mera khana ka matlab tha ka agar, you don't have a problem with me then why you left me".

Arjun: "I never left you Manik, we got separated in an accident, aur mujhe toh pata bhi nahi tha ka tu zinda hain". Manik looked at him with a Pikachu face.

Manik: "What".

Arjun: "Hain mannu kuch saal pehle mama papa ka accident ho gaya tha jis accident Mein unke sath tum bhi shamil tha, mamma papa ki dead body to mil gai per tumhari dead body nahi mili, police ne kaha ki shayad tum bhi mar gaye hoge, par I don't believe them mujhe pata tha mera baccha Mujhe chod ke kahin nahin jaega, Maine pure koshish ki tujhe dhundhne Ki main khud police officer bhi ban gaya tujhe dhundhne ke liye per tu nahin mila,ur dekh ajj Allah ne tujhe mere pass wapas lauta hi diya". He said emotionally, Manik hugged him tightly.

Manik: "I am sorry baba".

Arjun: "It's ok babu, but never talk about leaving me again, ok".

Manik: "plomise🥺🥺".
