Standing here, on this red planet, in the first human colony on Mars, our new home, I think about our mother, about Earth.
She gave birth to us and provided for us. She nurtured us, gave us more than any other parent would.
And yet, like every other ungrateful child, we turned our backs on her.
We forgot that there was only one mother, One Earth, that we should have protected with our lives.
We should have supported her, the way she supported us, and offer her unconditional love she has showered us with. We have failed her. Betrayed her.
