Her dad had just set her cup of tea down in front of her. Now she was forced by her mother to hang out with him and let's just say it was not the most enjoyable time ever

Zion was a very busy man which left him very little knowledge of what happens in Azariahs life

Technically he did "try" but overall he was a just a very oblivious man to his daughter's problems and joys

Smiling down at his phone Zion wasn't paying attention to Azariah. Which annoyed the girl, especially because she knew who he was texting

Gently clearing her throat she spoke up "So uh how's work going lately." Her eyes awkwardly bounced all around the vibrantly decorated coffee shop

No answer. She she tried again, except she got no response.

"Look dad can you please try." A quiet sigh left her mouth "I know you're always busy but you literally begged mom to let you hangout with me and now you're not even paying attention to me or anything I say." Whispering the last part she waited for him to say something

He set his phone down with a frown. This is not what he expected his time with Azariah to be like

Grabung her hand gently he sighed "I'm sorry honey. I know I've been so caught up in my work and life but I promise I do really love spending time with you." A glimmer was held in his eyes

Which meant he was lying. Azariah picked that up over the years

If his eyes had a slight glimmer in them or look shinty that meant he was lying. Which meant he was straight up stone faced lying to her

To his daughter. His only daughter. The one that has a deadly sickly disease. The one that's going to most likely not make it past summer

He lied to her. But she nodded and moved past it. If he wanted to put on an act, she could put a show on too

Because today what not the day to pick fights, especially because they have to read together at the library later

"Yeah I know. Don't worry about it dad!" A fake smile slid across her face as she nodded

Patting her hand his phone rang and Zion immediately jumped up to answer it "Oh sorry baby, the firms calling." Internally rolling her eyes Azariah let out an small sigh "Oh yeah that's cool. Definitely take the call!"

Her father nodded and walked outside giving her a thumbs up

Azariah felt like she could cry. But thennnnn

Once the door closed behind her father, it opened again, the belling chiming. Inside walked a teenage boy with dirty blonde messy hair

His dark blue button up lossened up at the top and he had on black shorts. Sunglasses were covering his face

Striding over to the table the teenage boy sat down across from Azariah. He stared at her for a few seconds then took of his sunglasses

It was none other than Rafe Cameron

A small no teeth showing smiled appeared on on his face and he raised his eyebrows "Is that Azariah? Well what are you doing here ms ballet babysitter."

"First don't call me that." Nose crinkling from laughter at the boys tease. "And second I was supposed to be having breakfast with my father. But work is more important to him." A simple shrug ended her sentence

"But what are you doing here mr mysterious moterbike?" Now she was the one doing the teasing

Rafe put his sunglasses back on and shook his head "Now that is classified Azariah. I'm doing a too secret mission here." Getting up he turned his back to the table

"Cant let you blow my cover, gotta okay it cool you know." A real smile formed on his face and he spoke in a playful. Which was received well with Azariah

And that's actually really good. Especially because he was nervous she wasn't going to play along

However she did. Trying to contain her smiling the teen nodded and played along "Oh yeah absolutely." A small laugh escaped and Rafes smiling grew even bigger once he knew she though this was funny

Also because she thinks she has a pretty laugh

"Well agent blue, I won't hold you to it. Gotta finish your mission!" She crossed her arms and leaned on the table

The blonde boy faced her and saluted as began slowly walking backwards "Good doing business with you agent butterfly."

As he picked up something from the counter her father walked back in. And immediately began questioning his daughter

"Is that—were you just talking to Rafe Cameron?" The male looked between the boy headed towards the door and his blushing daughter

She quickly thought on her feet and denied "No dad. I was laughing at something that kiara sent me." A hint of sass was in her voice

But she still remained respectful. He cleared his throat "Good, because that boy is trouble and I don't want to around him. Ever, do you understand."

Nodding she took a sip of her tea, attempting to conceal her pink cheeks and big toothy grin

Luckily her father didn't notice that his daughter was completely in her own world and not listening at all. Or the fact that her eyes trailed the Cameron boy as he left the little shop

He also didn't notice how Rafe kept eye contact with the Barlowe girl as he walked away
