WELCOME BACK, USER SAMANTHA REED!

Yeah! This is the worst!

Her parent's 1941 Sedan drove off. Dust lept into the air behind the rolling wheels.

At the prime age of 5, the little girl stood alone at the camp entrance with her heavy duffle bag of things. Even a little girl like her knew this wasn't peak parent performance.

Mom usually wasn't this cruel- but dad was always good at telling her what to do.

The forest of New Jersey was tall and intimidating. It crowded around her like judging adults- the rickety bark creaking with each sway.

Slowly swinging around, holding Bunny under her arm, she looked at the long pathway into the woods.

A sign sat nearby- the large font "CAMP CRYSTAL LAKE" embedded on the wood.

"Were you just... dumped here?"

Flinching- the little girl turned. She had to look up at the adult before her. It was a young woman with chocolate hair tied into a bun.

She had a bright yellow shirt tucked under her dark blue jeans. The words "CAMP COUNSELOR" stitched in with dark yellow above her left breast. Hopefully, this is someone she can trust.

"... Ye-eah." Samantha adjusted her stance shyly, head slightly jerking.

The woman sighed and crouched down to her level, "Well... What's your name?"

Pursing her lips- the girl reluctantly replied. "Sam-am-Sam-" She furrowed her brows in frustration and stomped her foot, "... Reed."

"Samantha?" The counselor guessed- to which Samantha nodded.

Smiling kindly- the counselor patted the top of her head. "Well, Samantha, My name is Shelby. How about I get you to your cabin?" Once Shelby stood, the little girl asked, "Ho-ow do you kn-know-" Her jaw twitched, "-where I'm stay-stay-staying?"

Shelby took a moment to translate through her stutters. "Uh-" She'd chuckle, "There's... a paper that tells us where all the kids stay."

Taking that answer silently- the woman appeared relieved she wasn't bombarded with questions.
