similar to 'Dream On,' but slightly different and you get a happy ending. I have to say, I've been really inspired to do all these Elton oneshots because of @sweet_painted_lady

Oh, how the tables have turned..

--------------------------------------

1980

Brian was staring at his band mates. And Elton John, who'd been playing music with them. This didn't make any sense.

They were children. Brian pinched himself to see if he was dreaming, but was disappointed to find it hurt.

He estimated the age they now looked, which was a bit confusing and didn't seem to be accurate age gaps.

"What're you staring at, Bri?" Roger asked with interest.

Roger thought his voice was higher than usual, but didn't think much of it.

"You guys," he hesitated. "You're not adults."

"Oh, come on, I know we argued earlier but--"

"No, literally. Take a look in the mirror."

Roger looked and let out a high pitched scream.

"How did this happen!?" Elton exclaimed.

"Maybe it was a magical force. We did hear something weird earlier, maybe it connected to our instruments." Freddie suggested.

"But magic isn't real." Roger frowned.

"It seems to be now." Freddie said back.

Brian wasn't sure what to do - what do you do about this? Well, he had experience being a parent, maybe if he leaned into those instincts, it'd help.

"Okay, let's see what happens by the end of the day. If it's not back to normal by then, we'll do something else." Brian stayed calm, though inside he was worried.

The others agreed and started talking, well, besides John, who wanted to stay out of it as he felt insecure.

He came up behind Brian, tugging at his leg. The man looked to his side and startled a bit, but crouched down, using their silent communication method.

"I don't like this. Can I stay with you?" John asked in a small voice. The guitarist noted that he must still be the youngest.

"Sure, Deacy." Brian gave him a hug and sat down so John could see him better. He probably felt like a giant to him.

John stood on Brian's lap, but wasn't that heavy, so it didn't hurt and watched from afar at his friends.

"Ow, watch my hair, please.." Brian pushed his curls out of the way.

"Sorry." John realised he had been holding on to his hair and immediately let go.

"It's okay." Brian said softly, looking at Roger get bored and run around.

Roger had more energy than usual, as he probably forgot to focus on staying calm at this strange age.

"Rog, I'd watch where you're going—" crash!

He had run straight into the drumset and was sitting there, shocked.

Before Brian could do anything, Elton and Freddie were by the drummer's side. "Are you okay?!" They asked.

"Yeah, my head hurts now.." Roger got back up and tried to be brave. "Actually, it really does.." He ran to Brian and tripped over a cable, slamming into his shoulder.
