Hug

Today is the second anniversary of your grandmas passing
You were very close with her as a child she spent every summer with you
So when the news of her passing hit you last year you were distraught
You didn't even get to tell her goodbye she had just suddenly gone without a warning
You couldn't stop crying that day it was probably the first many of the girls had ever seen you cry
And today when you woke up you felt the immense sadness wash over you again because today was the dreaded day
When you arrived at practice
You weighed in and did all the normal daily procedures
Then you popped in your AirPods and pulled on your hoodie before heading to breakfast
you walk into the dining hall and grab a plate and a water bottle
You get a biscuit and some eggs
Before heading to a seat in the back of the room
You always sit with the girls but today was overwhelming enough
Once done eating you lay your head down on the table and look out the window while listening to your music
After a bit you feel a soft hand on your back you flinch slightly and look up to see Alesia looking at you
"Sorry for spooking you y/n is everything alright darling" Alesia asks running a reassuring hand on your back
"Yeah just really in my head today less" you say
"Well the girls are worried about you we know how important today is" Alesia says
You start to tear up shocked that they remember
Alesia is shocked when she sees you starting to cry
"Oh y/n/n I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you love" Alesia says
You stand up and hug Alesia crying into her shoulder
You hear gasps from the girls near
Leah and Beth walk towards Alesia and you
You pull away slightly
"I didn't think you would remember" you cry
"Of course we remembered darling" Leah says from behind bringing you into the best hug you've ever had
Beth hugs you after she is crying now as well
You wipe your tears laughing
"I didn't think it would hit me as hard as it is" you say laughing nervously
"That's okay love grief is a strange thing" Beth says sadly
Leah hugs you again
"Sometimes everyone just needs a hug" Leah says kissing your forehead
You spent the rest of the day at practice surrounded by your team who have become your family
