"The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials." - Chinese Proverb

Isla Isabelle POV

As I woke up in the morning, feeling a strong thirst and the need to use the bathroom, I realized that Mister was still in a deep slumber, oblivious to my attempts to wake him.

"M-mister w-wake up I n-need to p-pee" Concerned about inconveniencing him further, I decided to gather my courage and navigate the situation on my own.

Carefully, mindful of my tender wounds, I maneuvered myself out of bed, wincing slightly as pain pulsed through my body. Step by step, I made my way towards the bathroom, driven by the urgency to relieve myself.

Upon reaching the bathroom, I took a moment to steady myself before entering. Once inside, I relieved my bladder, grateful for the temporary relief it brought. Afterward, I diligently washed my hands.

With the immediate need taken care of, my thirst called for attention. I cast a glance at the closed bedroom door, realizing that I needed to venture out to quench my thirst.

A flicker of doubt crossed my mind, aware of my petite stature, but I refused to let it deter me.

Summoning a glimmer of determination, I extended my hand toward the door knob, hesitating for a brief moment before mustering the strength to twist it.

I applied force, twisting it multiple times until, finally, the door yielded, allowing me access to the rest of the house.

As I ventured out of the room, I noticed that Bubba was opening the door beside Mister's room.

As Bubba questioned why I was outside and asked about Mister's whereabouts, I informed him that Mister was still asleep and my attempts to wake him had been unsuccessful.

I shared my decision to venture out to find some water, expressing a sense of pride in my independent action.

Taking charge of the situation, Bubba nodded in understanding and reassured me, "Hmm, okay. Let's go to the kitchen and get you some water, alright?" His caring tone and willingness to help eased any lingering worry I had.

Together, we descended the stairs, making our way towards the kitchen.

As I entered the kitchen, my eyes caught sight of Gelo sipping something from a cup. Curiosity piqued within me, and I couldn't help but approach him to inquire about what he was drinking. With genuine curiosity in my voice, I asked, "Gelo, what is that?"

Gelo, seeming slightly grumpy, responded without looking at me, "It's coffee. You won't like it."

Intrigued by his response, a sense of curiosity continued to drive me. I wanted to experience what coffee tasted like, even if Gelo believed it wouldn't suit my palate. So, I mustered the courage to ask, "Can I try it?"

In that moment, I noticed Gelo shifting his gaze towards Bubba, seeking his approval before allowing me to taste his beverage. It was a small gesture that spoke volumes about the bond and respect they shared as brothers.

Bubba, observing the interaction, gave a nod of consent, signaling that it was alright for me to give it a try.

Gelo hesitated for a moment, then carefully extended the cup towards my lips, his eyes fixed on me, perhaps gauging my reaction.

After taking a sip of Gelo's coffee and finding it unpleasant, I couldn't help but express my distaste. With a crinkled nose and a playful pout, I turned to Gelo and remarked, "I-it's yucky. I d-don't l-like it."
