The Thoughts That Chew

the warmth of cold hands

a hug is beautiful.

feeling their body interlocked with yours.

where the heart is touching

you can just feel the warmth
of their love.

a relationship is kind of like a hug.

it feels warm
and makes you feel safe.

until it starts getting chilly

you start drifting off into just a hand hold
so you can cover yourself up

The hugs don't feel as warm,
They don't feel as safe
they start making you feel uncomfortable.

so you let go.

it's hard to let go, remembering that warmth.
the times it made you feel safe and cozy
and you just think you can try again
and give one last hug,
as a goodbye.

but it isn't the same
not as it was before,
but you heart and your body
feels like you need it
just because you miss it

"Maybe it will be the same again?".
