|| Chapter Five ||

“Rose, Mum is on the phone.” Trent waved the inanimate object in the air. “She wants to talk to you.”

I smiled getting up from the bed and walking over to him with my hand open wanting the phone. He gave it to me whispering ‘I didn’t tell them’ and shook his head. Immediately, I understood what he meant. He didn’t tell them about me running off and getting lost in the woods for a whole day, which is what everyone thinks happened. I wasn’t going to tell them I had followed my stupid thoughts and went to Daniel’s pack.

“Hey Mum, how are you?” I spoke into the phone. It felt like forever since I talked to my parents.

“Hello Rosalynn, it’s good to hear your voice again sweetheart.” I grinded my teeth together at the mention of my full name. It’s not that I hated it, it was just too long and fancy while everyone else had short and simple names. “I’m fine just missing you guy a lot. You promised you would come and visit when are you planning on doing that exactly?”

I laughed. My parents had gone to live near the seaside of Scarborough.  They wanted to take a break from New-Cresent pack so they went on holiday. They felt that they could trust Trent, which was an understatement as he was twenty-two now. The actual place belonged to the Blue-shark pack, however, with the seaside and all the beautiful places they decided to use a part of it as a place for tourists to visit and stay at. Everything was with charge though.

“Sorry Mum, it’s just that Trent’s been very busy this past month with everything going on.”

“Oh yes, I heard that monstrous Collins attacked. Your dad and I was so scared that something might have happened to you both, thank the Lord you’re alright.” My wolf mentally growled at the fact that she just insulted our mate. “Did a lot of people die?”

Sighing, I took a seat on the edge of my bed. I hated talking about death or anything to do with it. “Yeah, we lost a lot of soldiers in that attack.”

I heard her groan from the other side. “If only I could rip him apart, he nearly killed my babies.”

It’s not only you.

“Just take care of yourself and Trent for me sweetheart and stay safe.” I wanted to laugh because with all the things I’ve been doing lately it was nowhere near keeping me safe.

“Will do Mum, you too.” After saying our goodbyes she ended the call. I rested my head against the bed’s headboard. I wondered how my parents would react when they found out that the ‘monstrous’ guy they just described was my mate.

I nearly fell off the bed when I heard the door to my bedroom slam open making the ground shake. Kayla walked in wearing a big smile on her face. “Guess what day it is?” She asked excitedly.

I racked my brain for any answer but I came up empty, “Um…what?”

“We’re going shopping for dresses.” She squealed clapping her hand together like a little kid who just received a present from Santa Claus.

I groaned not fascinated by the idea of going shopping for dresses or going to the Winter Ball. I freaking hated shopping with a passion. It was probably on written mentally in the list of things 'I would never want to do again'.

“Come on, get a move on. The Shopping Centre closes in five hours and if you keep acting like this we won’t get anywhere.” Oh, how I wish I could stay in my bed. Kayla, however, had other ideas.

*.*.

“That looks amazing on you. You should totally buy this one.” Kayla said examining the fabric of the dress. It was strapless black dress that ended just before my knees. Sequins decorated the sides of it making it look fancy. It looked awful.
