29 : birthday

"Yah, Jungwon! Happy birthday! Woohoo! You've finally reached adulthood!"
Hwayoung came to the hospital earlier than usual.

To be honest, she just skipped school.

"Happy 21st birthday!"
Hwayoung then started to sing a birthday song for Jungwon.

"Come on! Make a wish!"
Hwayoung waited for Jungwon to blow the candle.

I wish for you to stay forever happy!

Hwayoung ah, I'm trying my best to hold on!

I'm so sorry...

"Woohoo!"
Hwayoung pretended and blew the candle for Jungwon instead.

"9 February! Beautiful!"
She looked at the calendar.

"I will wait until you wake up, then we can eat together!"
Hwayoung smiled and quickly placed the cake back in a nearby freezer.

Ding!

Hwayoung then instinctively looked at her phone and saw the worried texts from her parents, teachers and other family members.

It was all about 'where are you, Hwayoung?', 'Why are you not attending school today?', 'is there something wrong?'

All sorts of questions but they did not even ask about how Hwayoung was feeling?

"Whatever."
Hwayoung turned off her phone and tossed it aside.

"Today is your day. I'm just going to care about you and only you!"
Hwayoung sat next to Jungwon and admired his sweet features.

"This is so unfair. Truly, one of God's favourites. So ethereal..."
She whispered.

"Gosh, I love you so fucking much." Hwayoung frowned as she tried to control her tears from escaping her eyes.

"I'm willing to say this sentence forever in my life and never get tired of it!"

"Jungwon ah, no matter whatever happens, how terrible or how great things are, I promise I will always be with you."
She held tightly onto his cold and weak hand, placing her forehead on their hands as she prayed for help.

Hwayoung then ended up sleeping on the table next to Jungwon but, she never let go of his hand.

Abruptly, Hwayoung felt a small scratch on her hand.

She instantly looked up and saw Jungwon trying his best to blink open his eyes.
