chapter 12

For the rest of the day all Emilia could think about was how vicious Dante was. He had no regard for Luca' life. What if Antonio was right?

Lexi wasn't bothered when she saw Luca being thrown across the room because she saw how strong Dante was and she couldn't wait to get him on her side. He could easily take care of Emilia for her.

The school day ended and Emilia was suprised that her new friends had gone ahead and put their numbers in her phone. Antonio saw her nervous she was when she looked at the car where her brothers stood talking to some girls.
He wouldn't have said anything if he knew she was their sister, after all it was only rumours.

"Hey, it's only rumours, if they were then they would have been caught by now" Antonio reassured her.

Emilia nodded.

She quickly waved goodbye to her friends and left. She didn't want to keep her brothers waiting especially Dante.

When she got to the car, Dante glared at her.

"Have you seen Lexi" Matteo asked. He wanted to get home.

"I'm here"  Lexi called walking up. She smiled thinking they were fed up with Emilia.
"Great let's go" Matteo said.

Dante turned towards them after saying goodbye to his friends. He looked Lexi up and down and smirked. He would have pointed out her shirt was buttoned up wrong but he figured he'd let her embarrass herself in front of mason, Damon and father.

They entered a not so quiet house. Emilia was terrified when she heard the shouting, it sounded like Damon and father.She wanted to run away before they took their anger out on her.

A door slammed shut and footsteps approached.

Damon stood before his four youngest siblings with a glare.
His facial expressions held nothing but anger, his arms were crossed and Emilia shuddered knowing he was so much more stronger than Dante.

"The four of you, my office now" Damon ordered, his voice held no emotion now, it was dark and cold. Even Dante shuddered when he heard it.

Lexi shuddered but she remained confident that she hadn't done anything wrong.

Matteo was unsure how things would go for him as he hadn't officially done anything but Damon might see that as an issue.

Emilia was shaking, all she could think about was where he would hit her.

They reached the office, it was dark and cold just like Damon.

"Now explain to me why I have not only Matteo telling me about a fight but the principal calling father" Damon said.

Dante and Matteo spoke at the same time, too fast for Damons liking. "One at a time" he spoke.

"He kissed her, what was I suppose to do" Dante quickly said before Matteo could say anything.

Damons cold expression turned even colder if that was possible.

"Emilia I want an explanation. Now" Damon ordered.

Emilia was shaking too much to even try writing. Her hands trembled and tears started to fall.

"You three leave" Damon ordered not liking how things were turning out.

Matteo grabbed Lexi and the three siblings left.

Damons cold expression fell as he slowly walked over to his sister.

"Hey it's okay" he tried. He had no idea what to do.

He reached out to lift her head so she could look at him and see he was no longer angry.

She saw his hand come close to her face and she flinched away falling to the floor and putting her hands over her head.

This was the type of reaction Damon wanted from his enemies but never his baby sister.

"Did you think I was going to hit you" he asked causiously.

Emilia didn't dare look up.
"I just wanted you to look up" Damon whispered.

Emilia shakely looked up not wanting to defy him. He didn't look angry like she had thought he would. If anything he looked afraid.

"I'm sorry I scared you tesoro" Damon said softly.

Emilia nodded accepting the apology.

He very slowly held out his hand for her to take. She did but out of fear and after being pulled up, Damon pulled her into a hug. He knew she wasn't a fan of touch but right now he needed her to see he wasn't angry.

Emilia was frozen still as he hugged, but the longer the hug was, the more comfortable she started to feel. She slowly melted into the hug and once she did Damon hugged her tighter "I'm so so sorry" he whispered.

Not even seconds past and he took the risk of leading her to the sofa in the corner. He silently pulled her down with him and held her.

That was when she broke.
Tears fell as Damon held her in his arms, holding on to her like she could slip away any moment.

She had never had this sort of comfort before and it broke her. She no longer felt terrified of Damon, she felt cared for. She wanted to build her walls back up but she didn't want this feeling to go away.

They stayed like that for a good hour. No one spoke, Damon just held his little sister in his arms.

Once he saw she was okay he decided to speak "can you tell me what happened today and maybe why you thought I'd hit you" he softly asked as he leaned forward, holding Emilia tighter so she wouldn't fall as he grabbed some paper and a pen from the coffee table .

"Take your time Tesoro, it's okay"

Emilia didn't know whether to tell him. He would only dig deeper and find out about everything.

She anxiously decided to write something down

It just happened, I don't know.
Dante was really violent with Luca, I'm just on edge from that and you were really angry. Sorry

Damon being angry was a understatement.  Emilia was a mess thanks to Dante at least that's what he thought. It was only partly true. Damon decided not to touch on the subject further in fear he'd get angry about it all.

"Matteo says Lexi spoke to him then he came over to you" Damon didn't buy her other reason.

Emilia couldn't tell him, she wouldn't.

She quickly wrote another lie.

He wanted to make Lexi jealous, he thinks she likes him so to annoy her he did that.

It wasn't a complete lie.

It seemed Damon believed it too

"And I suppose that's when Dante attacked him" Damon asked.

Emilia nodded.

Damon thought for a minute before speaking again "Now, you wouldn't lie to me would you Emilia" his voice had a edge to it which Emilia didn't like at all. It was almost as if he was daring her to lie.

Emilia gulped. He had seen through her lie. She quickly shook her head hoping he hadn't.

"Very well" Damon knew she was lying or at least not telling him everything.

"Why don't you go do your homework" Damon suggested only it wasn't a suggestion. He was dissapointed in her but at the same time he understood.

Once she left, Damon turned of his emotions and took out his phone telling Dante to come to his office.

Dante entered not long after and Damon's anger only increased the more Dante tried to get out of it.

Ok so I'm so undecided on how long it's going to take Emilia to open up. I have a plan on what's going to happen... You guys will want to kill Lexi by the end of it but she's not even known them a week just yet so I'm thinking it might be too soon, I won't be dragging this story out like my last books (I haven't forgotten about finding happiness)
I will hopefully be doing character aesthetics at some point too.
