I wear many hats
So many
That at times
I forget what I truly look like
I wear suits
For meetings
And dresses for girls' night
Costumes for parties
And makeup almost dailyI wear heels at least weekly
And boots almost dailyI dawn business casual often
Seemingly
More often than notI look put together
So often
So adorned by many hats
That at times
I forget what
I actually look likeBut tonight
I caught a glimpse
Of myself in the mirrorNo makeup
No hair brushed
Just a large shirt and spanx
And for a moment
Just a moment
I looked like myselfNo presentation
No shoes
No fancy no fluff
Just little old me
Casual and by myselfI display so often
That I forget who I am
What I look like
What I love
And what the mirror tells meI'm grateful for these moments
And for that mirror
As fleeting as they are
Because at times
It's nice to remember
I'm more a person
Than a professional
And I still look like me
Underneath the garbs12/12/22
