"So when is he getting bail?"

Taking a swig from the glass of water, I look at her over the brim and shrug.

"How do you go in for questioning only to get arrested for something else? Make it make sense" Issa says.

"That's his karma. He stay abusing women and keep forgetting he has a daughter.

Placing the glass on the table I point at Kay "not too much on my daughter."

Kissing her teeth, she clasped her hands and rest them on her lap.

We were currently over by Issa. According to her, she wanted us to come over to help with choosing a new layout for an upcoming launch she has.

Kay on the other hand assumes she wanted to talk but chose that excuse instead.

Now you and such man's back together she wants to vent to you both?

Yah, okay.

"Why do you always want to low key protect this man, even when he's wrong" Kay asks.

"Kaylan shut the f—ck up, cause I ain't protecting nobody" cause weh she mean I'm protecting him.

"Sure. Can bet a you send over him lawyer and post his bail."

"That literally could've been you. You figet how him beat the shit out a yuh when you did pregnant with Imani" she reminds me.

F—ck she can chat suh.

It's the truth though.

Okay. Not like I condone his actions towards his girlfriend. Me just nah go see him in certain situation and not help.

"We share a daughter together, what exactly do you expect me to do? You think I like lying to her whenever she keeps asking for him?"

Folding her hands and reclining in the chair, she kiss her teeth.

"Yeah she's waay too young to understand what's happening" Issa chimes in.

"Which is why I keep telling her to quit protecting him. Leave him to make his mistakes and suffer the consequences. If not he's going to keep repeating  his actions and eventually it'll start affecting Imani."

Nothing she's saying I haven't addressed already. But like I said, what am I to tell my daughter when she keeps asking for her dad.

Figure out something.

Releasing a deep sigh, Issa rubs my back to offer comfort.

"Did he tell you if she's out the hospital as yet?" Kay inquire.
