A/N: yay! I managed to write another chapter before another crazy week begins! (it's already Monday here, so consider it as the first update of the week)

---------------------------------

Zach's POV:

"Everything seems just fine. If you'll be good, I might release you tomorrow" doctor Harp said.

I nodded.

I'll be good then.

"that's great! Just in time for the holiday, right?" mom chirped.

I rolled my eyes.

Nothing like a holiday to remind you how fucked up is your family and how much you want to leave this house already.

"yep. Just in time for the holiday..." I repeated her.

"I could really use some help at the bakery..." mom began to say.

"seriously mom? Definitely not the right time for that!" Jenny glared at her.

As I said, fucked up. Big time.

"We already started renovating, again..." dad said.

"Jack's family are paying for everything. Don't worry" Jenny added.

I didn't know what they were talking about, but it sounds good to me.

"soon it will be back to normal. like nothing ever happened..." mom said.

I noticed Jenny rolling her eyes behind her.

Honestly, mood.

"excuse me, I have more patients to visit, so I'll have to leave you all for now. Zach, I'll be back later, for hopefully the last check-up" doctor Harp said and left the room.

Ugh, that awkward silence again.

God, make it stop.

"do you want me to get you something to eat, sweetie?" mom asked.

I want you to leave, actually.

But that will do too.

"yes" I replied.

"what would you like to eat, honey?" mom kept sucking up to me.

"uh, a hamburger," I said.

Whatever.

You can't get any hamburger at the hospital, which means she'll need to drive away to buy it, and then to wait at least for 15 more minutes before receiving her order.

I'm a genius.

Mom frowned.

"a hamburger? Why a hamburger? It's not healthy for you" she said.

"maybe a salad instead? Cesar?" she offered.

I sighed loudly.

"Listen, mom, if you don't want to get me a hamburger, then don't get me anything to eat and just leave me alone. I'll just deal with the gross food they serve here" I said in anger.

I was losing my patience for her.

Mom seemed genuinely hurt.

Good.
