(Makada's Wolf)

(continuation from last chapter/scene)

"Why is she in pain when she shifts?"

Roman walks over to the edge of the pool, and sits down, dipping his feet in.

"She turned nineteen 3 months ago,"

He starts. I walk towards him and sit with my legs crossed next to him.

"The first year is always the hardest."

He says, gazing into the water.

"What do you mean?"

He sighs and tosses a pebble into the pool, making a ripple.

"The first year without your mate. Your wolf is depressed, and so they fight against you every time you try to shift."

I gasp. It must be so difficult to have your wolf against you. I couldn't even imagine that.

"Did that happen to you?" I ask quietly.

He nods, then looks towards me.

"It goes away after a while." He says quietly.

Sebastian is 20. He must have been hiding his pain.

"What are you thinking about mia luce?"

I look over to him to see he's already looking at me.

"It's just, my brother, he's 20."

He nods and throws another pebble in the pool.

We sit there for a while, just listening to each other's breathing. Roman keeps opening and closing his mouth, looking like he wants to say something but thinking against every time.

"Roman, spit it out."

He chuckles, and shifts his body so he's sitting in front of me. He crosses his legs too and now we're sitting knee to knee.

"Let's play 20 questions."

I playfully roll my eyes.

"Typical."

He chuckles along with me.

"How else are mates supposed to get to know each other?"

"Literally any other way"

"Please?"

I sigh.

"Fine-"

"Great!"

I laugh as he gets comfortable.

"Alright, I'll start. Favorite animal?"

"Pfft, wolf. You?"

"Cat."

"Really?"

He laughs.

"Your face just then was priceless. No, of course it's a wolf. Axl would hate me if it wasn't."

"Axl? Is that your wolf?"

He nods.

"Alright, ummm, what about favorite colors?" I ask.

"Black."

"Black isn't a color." I say with a 'duh' tone.

"Yes it is. What color are my pants?"

"Well, they're black, but-"

"Exactly! What's your favorite color?"

I scrunch up my nose (it's a habit, I know).
