The story of Balarama's marriage to Revati is mentioned in the Mahabharata, where it is said that Balarama's parents, Vasudeva and Rohini, approached King Kakudmi to seek a suitable bride for their son. Kakudmi took his daughter Revati to Brahma, the creator god, to seek his advice on the matter. When they arrived, Brahma was listening to a musical performance by the Gandharvas, so they waited patiently for him to finish. After the performance, Kakudmi presented his request to Brahma, who informed him that time had taken a different pace in the higher realms, and that the suitable bride for Balarama is Revati.

Brahma then advised Kakudmi to give his daughter Revati to Balarama, who was the best match for her. Kakudmi followed Brahma's advice and gave Revati in marriage to Balarama. The marriage of Balarama and Revati is considered to be an auspicious event in Hindu mythology and is celebrated in various parts of India.
