My Number ?

"Do you like him ?". Jake asked .
I froze at what he said.
After awhile , I said "Its complicated ".
"Okay ". Jake said .
I was actually glad that he didn't push me for a much more better answer .
"Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted to hear ".

"Not to hurt your feelings but I don't like girls like you ". He said.
"Its okay ".
That question he asked didn't ruin the whole conversation . We were still talking like if that question wasn't asked at all .

When we were done , it was already night time .
We were walking out the DQ place while were talking about random questions .
I looked at the time and saw it was 10:00pm.

I stopped walking and Jake did too after I was quiet.
He asked "What's wrong ?".
"Its 10:00pm and my parents are going to kill me if I dont get home now ".
"Fine , lets take you home ". He said and lead us to the car.
For the whole car ride , Jake was trying to get us killed .

He said "Again , I am not trying to kill you ".
"Then why are you showing me your car tricks that may get us killed ?". I asked .
"Look , all I am just showing you is this side of life I'm living ".
"Whatever ".
We reached my house and I saw that the lights were still on and my parents and Alex 's mom were still here.

"I had fun today ". I said .
"I know. I showed you my side of my life". He said .
"Yeah you did and I enjoyed it so thank you ".
"No problem ". He said and then he drove off.
I went inside to see everyone in the kitchen .

"Sweetie , your home ". My mother said while coming over to me and hugging me.
"Sorry for being late ". I said .
"Pumpkin , you should have called ". My dad said .
"I know , I am sorry. I just lost track of time ". I said apologizing once again.

"Its okay . But next time call us ". My dad said .
"Okay ". And then they left .
When they left , Cathy and Ally looked at me and ran to me and in an excited way and said "Soo , how was it ?".
I didn't say anything but Alex just went to his room and slammed the door.

"He is just jealous ". Cathy said.
"How was it ". Ally asked .
And then I told them everything . At the end , they were already shipping me and Jake to be a couple.
I told them what he said about him not liking me that way .
They still were shipping me and Jake to be a couple.

I went into Alex 's room and said "Hey ".
He didn't say anything .
I went to take a shower and when I got out , Alex was still up .
"Why are still up ?". I asked as I climbed into the bed .
"I don't know , maybe because your best friend went out with some guy she just met ". He said looking at me.  

Alex said making me feel guilty for coming home late .
"I said I was sorry ". I said .
"But why him ?". He asked .
"What do mean why him ?".
"You just met him . And he's a bad person ".

"Am I hearing that Alex is finally jealous about someone in his life ?". Sounding surprised .
"I am not jealous ". He said.
"I don't like him". I said. 
"But why him ?". He asked. 
I wanted to say something but Cathy and Ally came in through the door .

They looked at and said "Were you guys arguing again ?".
"He 's the one that was jealous ".
"I am not jealous . I am just saying its too early for her to be liking some guy she just met ".

"Who died and made you the father of Beth ". Cathy said.
"I am not Beth 's father ".
"Then stop acting jealous . You have a girlfriend ".
"I don't need this right now ". He said as he climbed out the bed and went to the living room .

"More space for us ". Cathy said. 
They came in the bed and slept off  .
I couldn't sleep because all I could think about was the fun I had with Jake. 
I was trying to sleep when my phone buzzed .
I opened my phone and then the  message that  I got and saw it was an unknown number. 

The person sent - Hi Beth . Its Jake .
How did Jake get my number ? I wondered.
