I laugh, flicking through my instagram coming across the selfies Joe and I took yesterday. I screenshot them all, seeing he couldn’t be bothered sending them to me, even when I clearly asked him all last night after we got home from the pier.

I’m so engrossed looking at my iPhone screen that I don’t even realize Dad and Melissa have walked into the living room and stopped in front of the couch I’m sitting on.

Dad clears his throat making me look up at him. I raise my eyebrows in question.

“We’re going baby shopping,” Dad informs me. “Do you want to come?”

“Sure, “I respond, turning my phone and pulling myself off the couch. “Can we pick up Joe, Larissa and Cameron one the way?” I ask pleadingly, giving dad the best puppy dogs eyes I can muster.

Dad sighs, a small smile creeping up onto his lips. He glances over at Melissa who hasn’t said anything since she stepped into the room. “Sure, I don’t see why not,” Dad finally agrees.

“Yay!” I squeal, unlocking my phone and sending a text out to Joe, Cam and Liss.

I put my phone back into my back shorts pocket, following Dad and Melissa out of the room. We descend the porch steps and walk into the garage, Dad gets into the driver’s seat, while Melissa props herself into the passenger seat. I follow suit, sliding into the back seat.

My phone vibrates in my back pocket, as dad pulls onto the road. Pulling it out, I see I’ve got a message from Larissa and Joe.

Liss <3:

Hey Girly! Cam and I will meet you at the mall. We’ll be at the food court. Love ya x

I send back a quick okay, before opening Joe’s message.

Joseph the awesome best friend. :D :

Can you pick me up? Please :)

Don’t ask about his contact name. He put it there last night.

“Hey dad,” I say, not looking up from my phone.

“Hmm,” he responds absentmindedly.

“Joe wants us to pick him up,” I inform him, tucking my phone away.

“Sure,” Dad responds, pulling down Joe’s street.

We drive down until I tell dad to stop in front of Joe’s house. Dad beeps the horn a couple of times, letting Joe know of our presence.

Soon enough Joe comes out, flattening out his wet hair. He must of just had a quick shower.

“Hello Jacobs,” he greets us, slipping into the backseat beside me.

“Hey,” I respond, giving him a smile.

“Hey son,” dad smiles through the review mirror.

Melissa doesn’t say anything, but Joe doesn’t seem to notice.

We ride in a comfortable silence, the radio playing softly in the background. I look out the window, seeing Joe’s reflection.  He notices me looking at him through the window and stars making funny faces. I burst into a fit of giggles.

He laughs along with me.

“Nice face,” I comment, smirking at him.

“I know,” he responds, laughing lightly. “I’m just that sexy.”
