At twenty-two weeks pregnant, Rory got ready for dinner with Sadie.

She wore a dress that flared out before it reached her belly, almost concealing her baby bump. She had gotten to the point where she couldn't hide her pregnancy anymore, but she could still try. Soon enough, she wouldn't be able to cover it up at all.

It wasn't that she didn't want to show off her pregnancy, but when she was out with Sadie with a pregnant belly, people tended to assume that they were just friends. Of course, they always proved those people wrong by kissing or holding hands, but it just made it easier when less people assumed from the beginning.

Sadie was extremely nervous about what she was about to do. She had never put herself in such a vulnerable position before in her life. She never liked to put herself on the line and she never had to do it before but, there, with Rory in her life, she knew that she had to do it. It simply felt right.

She got ready, hyping herself up to do what she knew in her heart that she wanted to do. She was ready, she didn't need to convince herself of that. She and Rory would be raising a child together, there was no way she would refuse taking it a step further.

She zipped up her red dress, steadying her shaky hands. She wore a jacket with big enough pockets for her to put the small velvet box into. Suddenly, all her anxiousness evolved into excitement. This was the best day of her life up to date, which would soon be replaced by the birth of her child.

She was excited to start the next phase of her life, but, most of all, she was excited to live through it with Rory. They had already been through so much together while their relationship was still fresh, so it didn't feel like they had only been together for a few months. When Sadie was with Rory, everything seemed right.

She was so excited to spend her life with Rory, to raise their first, but not their last, child. She imagined their future together and she couldn't think of anything better. She was one-hundred percent certain that what she was planning was the right choice, she didn't have a shadow of a doubt. Still, that didn't mean that she wasn't nervous.

"Are you ready to go?" Rory asked, putting in her earrings.

Sadie looked at her girlfriend, admiring her from across the room. She stood, gorgeous, in her blue flared dress that reached her mid-thigh. She wore a silver pendant around her neck, matching the small stones on the earrings in her ears. Her hair was curled and pinned back at the front.

Sadie nodded, swallowing her nerves, "Yeah, let's go," She opened the door for Rory, who grabbed her car keys and purse.

They got in the car, Sadie in the driver's seat. They had argued about that on the way down, but Sadie had told her that she would be the designated driver. After all, she was the only one who knew where they were going.

"So, I know that you haven't eaten," Sadie began, "so we can stop at McDonald's along the way,"

Rory laughed, "What do you mean? I thought we were going out for dinner," She said curiously, "by the way, why are we going out so early? It's only five o'clock,"

Sadie shrugged, not revealing anything, "I can't tell you any of that, but I'm stopping here. What do you want? It might be a couple hours before we eat," She said, pulling into McDonald's.

Rory found it weird, but took Sadie's word and knew that she would be hungry later if she didn't eat, "Can you just get me a smoothie?" She asked, grinning. If there was one thing she loved, it was smoothies.

So, they got their food, then got onto the road. After a while, Rory began to recognize the roads they were travelling, the street signs, everything. It was very vague in her memory, but she remembered because it was such an important day.
