Looking at the woman in front of her, Jinli subconsciously noticed her bright, sparkling eyes. Her halo was bright and pure, suggesting good fate and showing no entanglement with any misfortune. Very evidently, the owner was a person with a good heart.

It was just her less-than-average affinity with people, including the Bai Jinli of the past. Within the company, there weren’t many employees on her good side.

Sharp-tongued, yet soft-hearted. Sister Qing was the typical iron-fisted gentle giant. Coincidentally, Jinli had always favoured interacting with people of a kind, big-hearted character.

Bearing Sister Qing’s condescending look, she praised her smilingly, “Sister, your makeup is fantastic today!”

Molten rage boiled within Sister Qing. Hearing the compliment, she was dumbfounded. Her eyes narrowed onto Jinli, puzzled.

What is this Bai Jinli plotting?

Deep inside, Sister Qing had never liked Bai Jinli much. After some consideration, she rolled her eyes, and laughed disdainfully. “Don’t try to change the topic. Bai Jinli, this time, the management is furious. If we don’t salvage President Wang’s investment, you know the consequences.”

Receiving the warning, Jinli’s eyes flickered a little in disbelief. She stared at Sister Qing and heaved a soft, resigned sigh.

This was not a scenario Sister Qing would have imagined seeing. More accurately, today’s Bai Jinli and the Bai Jinli she knew were radically different. Of course, she probably believed that Bai Jinli had realised her circumstances and decided to behave herself. Never would she have imagined that the person in front of her was a completely different soul in the same shell.

With innocent puppy eyes, Jinli courteously pleaded with Sister Qing, “Sister Qing, allow me to straighten some things out. Securing President Wang’s investment was a task that An Rou volunteered for. Logically, any success will be hers, any failure will be her blunder. I am confused. Why is it my fault now that the plan flopped?”

Sister Qing was taken aback.

It was not just her. Every director within the company had prematurely deemed Bai Jinli guilty immediately after President Wang’s phone call.

Everyone had conveniently forgotten about An Rou’s initial enthusiasm.

“Why did we deem you guilty?” With a cold snort of disbelief, Sister Qing stated, “Because the one President Wang complained about is you!”

Jinli did not blow up in rage. She glanced up at Sister Qing, “Why, why would he be unhappy about me?” Her tone was gentle, slow, and mysteriously pleasing to the ears. Her face was fully clad in innocence as she spoke. Her eyes, glistening black, like a pair of sparkling, clear pearls, skillfully danced around. In that instant, warmth and purity radiated from her.

Shock crossed Sister Qing’s eyes.

The only thing on her mind now was the petite, tender red lips that Jinli spoke with and the enchanting smile on her face as she looked up. Her every action seem to bring about a warm, pleasant spring breeze. Sister Qing could almost see it brushing through the sakura trees, bringing the delicate, baby pink petals along, slowly swaying down, landing softly on her palms.

I must be crazy!

Sister Qing pulled herself together, disgust at herself rushing in.

My kids are already in University! What am I thinking!

Having finished dissing herself, she examined Jinli more closely.

Upon a closer look, her surprise heightened. She knew Bai Jinli from way back. Logically, she should have gotten used to her bewitching looks. She should not have gotten stirred up this much. That should be the case, especially with Bai Jinli’s repulsive personality completely destroying any positive impressions. The usual Sister Qing was never affected.

Yet today, right at that moment, she was completely spellbound. An honest mesmerisation and captivation overwhelmed her. This feeling was identical to what she had felt on their first meeting. Her only thoughts being:

How can anyone be so beautiful?
