After the phrase, "I like you" had fallen out of Zoey's mouth, the room had gone eerily silent, except for the noise from the television.

Erin looked up at Zoey with a curious look in her eye.
"What'd you say?"
"Nothing." Zoey answered instantly.
"You can tell me, Zoey."

Zoey knew that she could tell Erin, but should she tell her?
She honestly wanted to. She wanted to get her feelings out there, but she didn't want things to be awkward between them.

Well, realistically, Erin was an understanding person. Things wouldn't be awkward.
She could explain herself and things would be fine.

With that reassurance in mind, she looked Erin in the eye and said,
"I, um, I like you, Erin."

Erin's facial expression was one of curiosity mixed with confusion.
"You do?"
"Yeah."
Erin looked down at her lap, thinking for a second.
"Oh, um, okay." She said quietly.

A few silent minutes passed.
"I'm sorry. I know you don't like girls and I don't want things to be... weird between us. I just- I don't know. I wanted to tell you so that I could get it out, I guess." Zoey explained, messing with the fraying hem of her shirt.

After a moment or two, Erin looked up at Zoey.
"Don't worry. Things won't be weird, we're fine."
"Really? That's great. Thanks for... understanding."
"You're welcome." Erin smiled reassuringly.

They had talked about Zoey's feelings towards Erin for a little bit, where Erin heard the reasoning as to why Zoey liked her so much.

Zoey loved how sweet Erin was to her, she loved her sense of humor, her kindness, and her positive outlook on life, along with a whole bunch of other things.

Night had fallen as the two of them laid down to go to sleep.
Zoey slept peacefully with the knowledge that things were okay between herself and Erin.

Erin laid wide awake, with many thoughts going through her head.

The idea of Zoey liking her was terrifying.
