You couldn't help but overhear how Rebekah's siblings were talking about you as it was obvious they wanted you to hear with how loud they were being. You knew they were only doing it because Rebekah had stepped out and they no longer had to hide the fact that they disliked you.
"She could've dated anyone but it just had to be her. I don't understand what Rebekah sees in her. She looks like she'll run and hide at the first sign of trouble."
"Oh, she does. Rebekah had to go in and protect her because she just couldn't move. I feel bad for her, with how protective Rebekah is, it almost seems like she's babying her. If I was Rebekah, I would at least show her some self defense. I wouldn't want to be constantly worrying about whether she would get killed because she couldn't move."
You bit your lip hard, hating how much their words were affecting you. Rebekah had warned you about their cruel words but you insisted that you would be fine. You honestly thought you would be unbothered but considering that they were Rebekah's family, it hurt. You desperately wanted them to like you so it wouldn't put an even bigger strain in between her and her family but that wasn't going to be the case.
"I don't appreciate how you're talking about my girlfriend."
"Rebekah! When did you get here?"
She rolls her eyes at them, hating how they were trying to be casual about it. She was already pissed off because she had to step out, this just made her mad.
"That doesn't matter. What matters is that you're blatantly talking as if she wasn't here. I didn't think any of you would stoop this low but I guess that I was wrong." Rebekah makes her way around the corner to find you trying to hold back your tears. You didn't want to cry in front of them and prove them right but as soon as she wrapped her arms around you, she couldn't hold them back anymore. "It was a mistake bringing you here and I'm sorry. I should've never left your side, (y/n). Don't pay them any attention."
She continues whispering words of comfort until you were able to calm down enough to not be crying anymore. You wanted to tell her how she was wrong but you were just so tired.
"Can we go home?"
"Of course, (y/n)."
She takes your hand and leads you out of the house. Neither of you pay any attention to their apologies.

The two of you are finally in bed with Rebekah holding you in your arms as she played with your hair.
"I'm really sorry about what happened, (y/n)."
"It's okay, Rebekah. You weren't the one that said those things. I'm fine now. I just don't know why I let their words get to me."
"I'll kill them if they say anything like that to you again."
You knew she would follow through with her words.
"No, they're your family. I can handle them."
"Alright but you can take my offer whenever."
You sigh happily, closing your eyes so you could get some sleep.
"I love you, Rebekah."
"And I love you more than words could ever express, (y/n)"
She whispers as she hears your heartbeat slow down.
