Hi! It's been a very long time! I just wanted to preface this chapter and let you know that the letter in this chapter is supposed to be written in French, but I didn't actually write it in French because of how important it is to me that everyone understands what the letter is about, so when it says "translate it for her" it means that Annalise can't read it because the flashback was from before she learned French!

Annalise had wandered her way back to her apartment; after sitting around the academy for hours, she decided that she should probably go back. Her decision was based on one simple fact: Vanya had no idea what had happened. Vanya had answered almost immediately when she had knocked on the door, hoping that it was Annalise. She scooped her up in a hug, whispering, "Mon Dieu, tu vas bien."

Annalise sat down on the couch and patted the seat next to her, "Viens t'asseoir, ma soeur."

Vanya instantly sat down and grabbed Annalise's hands, "What's wrong, Annalise?"

"Quelque chose s'est passé quand j'étais à l'académie," Annalise explains slowly.

Vanya's eyes widened, "You were there when it was attacked?" Annalise stares down at their hands and nods.

Annalise spent the next half hour explaining what happened and when telling her about the bullet she took, Vanya stood and ordered her to show the wound. Seeing the ugly bruising and stitches, Vanya broke down. She held Annalise tight and cried how it was her fault that she didn't take her along, that if she had just called for her and made sure that they were both safe, it wouldn't have happened.

"Ma soeur, ça va. C'est arrivé et nous ne pouvons pas revenir en arrière. Le mieux est d'aller de l'avant et d'apprendre de tout cela."

Annalise was lying on the couch, listening to Vanya play Gigue from Partita No. 2 in D minor by Johann Sebastian Bach. She had changed into a nightgown and her bunny slippers, adamant that she would spend the day inside and probably nap for as long as possible. She held her copy of the sheet music, paying close attention to the notes and their accidentals.

Annalise simply said, "B flat Vanya."

"Right," and the note was fixed.

The two went on like that for a good while. After Vanya finished the song without a mistake, she would play it just a little bit faster.

A knock on the door stops Vanya; Annalise looks up from the music, glancing at Vanya in question. Vanya opens the door to see Allison.

"Oh, hey," Vanya says, opening the door wider to let her sister in.

"Hey, guys. Can I come in?" Allison quickly enters, shutting the door behind her just as fast.

"Well... Sorry, I really need to rehearse," Vanya says as she walks back to her stand.

"Allison?" Annalise doesn't move from her spot, only turning her head slightly to peek over the couch.

Allison turns to the couch at the sound of her name, seeing Annalise settled down for the day already, "Hey Anna, Diego gave me a rundown of what happened- are you okay?"

Annalise only nods, slightly unsure of herself, "Uh... Look, I know you guys are not gonna want to hear this, but I was just in the library looking up Leonard."

Vanya turns to Allison quickly while Annalise pushes herself into a sitting position, "What? Why would you do that?"

"Vanya, there are records of literally everything. I mean, you look me up, there are miles."
