A grand concert hall was encased in darkness, a spotlight illuminates only a sleek grand piano.

A small girl in a white dress enters the light, her hands grasping a folder of sheet music. She sits, places the folder of music upright, then fiddles with the stool; it was too low for her small form. As she straightens, she carefully rests her fingers atop the keys, looking to her sister standing in her own beam of light as well. With her violin under her chin and her bow in hand, she looks behind to confirm they could begin.

She nods.

The violinist starts with a slow, tranquil tune, her accompaniment following easily. The sounds blend beautifully to create a melody that makes breaths hitch. The sound of the music floats throughout the hall, filling the ears of anyone nearby with sounds of harmony. Suddenly, the music shifts into a drastically different sound. A demanding and powerful tone takes over, that would make anyone jump and still want to lean closer in a wonder.

Both girls are moving with the music, almost involuntarily. The notes are flowing together to create a  perfect duet, and everyone knows it. If you're close enough, you could see the intense focus on the violinist's face, her right arm rising and falling to create the low and high notes. The pianist's lips are raised in a soft smile as her eyes have closed, though the rest of her body is almost a complete contrast; her hands flying across the keys in a flurry as she keeps up with the tempo flawlessly. Her hands press down with such force that her body follows along with it, jolting toward the keys in a peculiar-looking dance.

The music starts to slow, tying it back to the beginning again. The pianist's eyes are now open as she watches the music become powerful, she sees the transition in her sister as she lets the music completely take over. Her face lightens with pride as she watches the scene unfold.

The two are exiting the theatre, engaged in conversation.

"I truly think we did well Vanya," the girl says with a smile, a small accent in her voice, "The practice session couldn't have gone better."

Vanya smiles, "Thanks, Lise. I just need to work harder, then I can get first chair."

'Lise', as Vanya calls her, sighs, "Ma soeur chérie, I wish you would spend just a day where you don't stress about chair placement."

The girls walk past a tv store, where televisions are placed next to a window. The smaller stops short as she sees 'BREAKING NEWS' and a picture of their father out of the corner of her eye. Vanya notices and stands close to her sister, both of them watching the muted news story. The bottom of the screen read 'SIR REGINALD HARGEEVES IS DEAD'. The picture switches to ones of the Umbrella Academy, as usual without Vanya, no doubt making her feel worse.

"Dad..." Vanya mumbled as she tucks an arm over her small sister.

Her sister looks up to her and asks, "We have to go back now don't we?"

Vanya turns her in the direction of their shared flat as it had started raining, "It'll be fine, it's just for the funeral."
