Barry decided to give Jay what he wanted - his speed. That only meant that Alex was forced to give up hers as well, she was willing to do it if that meant that she was getting Wally back. Zoom proved himself over and over that he couldn't be defeated. It was the only way that they were going to get him back.

Cisco had used his powers to vibe Jay and tell him that the deal was on. Only moments later, Zoom showed up with Wally being held by the back of his shirt. Alex was in her suit, which meant that he had no idea it was her. She wanted to run to him to make sure that he was okay, but he couldn't know who she really was.

Joe gave him the keys to his car and ushered Cisco to follow with him. The two left the lab and Alex felt relieved. Wally was back and safe in their hands. She was tempted to try and stop Zoom right then and there, but there were too many people in the room that he could kill before she got the chance.

Zoom took his mask off, confirming to all those who hadn't seen him the day before, that he was really Jay. Wells explained to him that the device that he used previously to take Barry's speed was tasked to do what it was intended for. All Barry had to do was run.

For so long, running felt like he was saving the world. Barry ran towards danger, he embraced the speed. Having to run now, it felt as if he was giving up. Instead of running to the fight, he was running from it. He felt defeated in almost every way, and he could see that Alex was much the same.

Jay explained his mastermind plan to everyone while Harry was fixing the device that was going to change their lives forever. He explained that the Jay that they knew was a time remnant - one from the past. He had somehow convinced his other self to allow him to be killed.

The Jay they knew was a figure of hope for everyone. It was the motivator that Barry needed to get faster and it was a sidgil of hope for those on Earth-2 that everything would be okay. Hunter only did this so he would rip it away from the people and watch them cower in fear below him. He was just as evil as he wanted everyone to see.

Harry returned with the device and stuck it to the chest of the Flash suit. The team watched as Barry ran on the treadmill. He got slower and slower as every second passed until he ran just like every other human. All the Speed Force had left his body. He was no longer the hero of Central City, he was just a civilian.

Iris and Caitlin rushed into the room where Barry had collapsed. Though Alex was still mad at him for everything, she still loved him and wanted to check on him too. Unfortunately and expected, she was stopped buy the arm of Zoom, cutting off her access to her boyfriend.

Jay looked over at Alex, awaiting her turn to go on the treadmill. She had known that with Barry going first, he would never get any speed out of her because he was the only reason he had it in the first place. Alex displayed that she had no speed left. Although it was a dangerous game to deceive the speedster, she knew that it was necessary.
