"Cats are better than people.
That's what I always say.
To help build up the courage
That I need to walk away.
'Cause my whole life is just a sweater,
Knit together by someone
Who picked out all the patterns
That I longed to be undone
Full of colours others chose,
With holes and knots and missing bits
And as they all grew up, they thought;
"I guess she just no longer fits."
And although I was made up of
The wounds their needles dug.
Each scar had helped me grow
Into a piece that'd fit in snug.
So, trying hard to fix my holes,
I learnt to be the perfect fit.
But I could see behind their eyes
A hatred they could not admit
And so, perhaps, falling apart
Is all I need to look ahead,
And see that I am better off
As just a simple undone thread.
Go back to just a ball of yarn,
Before the stabbing of a needle.
I know the cats would love me still,
It's why they're better than people. "
