After having their meal together, Jennie was prepared to leave. This time, she would not be persuaded to stay any longer. She didn't want to remain in the office to discuss the proposal.

"Grandfather, I hope you don't break our promise." She reminded him, picking up her purse.

Kwon Jae Wook smiled at his doubtful granddaughter. The promise was that she wouldn't be dragged back into the office for at least 3 days after any consultation work. She was his top consultant, and despite how good she was at running a business, he could see the toll that it took on her.

She was traumatized by something and it was something that even two years of therapy have been unable to heal. Right now, he could only hope and pray she gets over her fear or else, her abilities were truly put to waste.

Lisa didn't object to her leaving this time, but that didn't mean he would be staying here. During the meal, he had contacted Jackson to attend the discussion in his place.

Kwon Jae Wook leaned back in his leather chair as he watched Lisa readily chase after his granddaughter.

Three minutes later, another man walked into the room, his face oozing with playful charm. Unlike Lisa whose expression was forever arctic and stony, Jackson always had a mischievous smile on his face that hid all of the sins he had committed.

"Elder Kwon, I hope I didn't keep you waiting for long?" Jackson sat down on the table but paused when he smelled something odd.

"Did you guys have scallops for lunch?" Despite his tall and slender frame, Jackson was a major glutton known for his bottomless stomach. His keen sense of smell allowed him to detect his favorite food that just happened to be the only thing Lisa was allergic to.

"Your nose is as sharp as a bloodhound, Jackson. But yes, we had eggs steamed with scallops as a side dish." Kwon Jae Wook picked up the surprised expression on the Vice President of Manoban Enterprise's face.

"I hope my brother didn't consume any. He's severely allergic to it." Jackson grabbed his phone, his eyes slightly wide with panic.

Kwon Jae Wook leaned forward, a frown on his face. Severely allergic? But he gladly ate the dish when Jennie had scooped it into his bowl!

"He consumed a spoonful of it-"

"A spoonful?! My apologies for interrupting, Elder Kwon, but where is my brother right now?!" Jackson stood up from his chair as he hurriedly sent a text Kang Seulgi.

"He left with my granddaughter." Kwon Jae Wook sighed at the mess the youngsters have created.

He wasn't surprised Jackson didn't run into Lisa. There were two private elevators leading to this floor, which meant Lisa and Jennie probably took one down just as Jackson took the other going up.

Why did Lisa eat the scallop and say it's his favorite if he was allergic to it? Was he asking for a death wish?!

"Granddaughter? I thought you didn't acknowledge any of them." Jackson distractedly said.

Kwon Jae Wook tiredly leaned his cheeks on one propped up arm. "I acknowledge two of them. One of them is Kwon Jennie, my oldest." He said, clearly getting the facts mixed up.

She wasn't his oldest granddaughter, as a matter of fact, he had two older grandchildren, but Kwon Jae Wook didn't bother with them. He didn't even remember their existence!

"Kwon Jennie?" Jackson lifted his head from the phone he was rapidly typing on. Why did that name sound so familiar?

He thought back to what his little Somi was rambling about a few days ago.

"Hm, is she acquainted with my little sister?"

"Yes, Jennie is good friends with Somi. If I remember correctly, my granddaughter's date to the banquet was supposed to be you." Kwon Jae Wook thought back to Jennie's words.

The security he sent for her reported that while she got picked up by one of the Manoban family's cars, she entered the banquet alone. Due to the strict rules of the banquet, they couldn't enter the room. Instead, they were forced to wait outside in the hallway — per protocol. The same rule applied to everyone.

Jackson snapped his fingers when a light bulb lit up in his head. Yes! That was the one! "It's so strange, isn't it? I was all dressed up and ready to escort her, but last minute, Lisa stopped me from going. The next thing I knew, I was sent to the main mansion for a lecture while he gets to accompany a beautiful woman." Jackson frowned at the unhappy memory.

He was pretty excited to see Jennie again after all these years. It was strange that she didn't remember him, especially when they used to be great friends when they were children. He guessed the years had been enough for their childhood memories to fade.

It was even stranger for Lisa to harshly intercept him and force him to not attend the banquet. He really wanted to go, but seeing his brother's fierce objection, he couldn't. To prevent Jackson from escaping, he even sent him back to the main mansion where his parents kept a tight leash around him! His brother was really ruthless. First, it was his younger sister, and then it was him. He couldn't wait to see his parents lecture Lisa for making them wait for him to start his own family. The man was already 27 and he had yet to bring home any woman to introduce to his parents.

Now that Jackson thought about it, he remembered seeing a particular headline that has blown up recently. His parents had called him nonstop since Lisa wasn't picking up their calls. They wanted to confirm the news as they giddily imagined that a grandchild is in their near future. Unfortunately, Jackson didn't know if it was real or not.
