30 | sweet as honey

hey! Really quick announcement; I changed Isabelle's age from 26 to 33 coz I realized I actually saw her older than a 26 woman. Hope everybody's ok with that, thank u soooo much for reading🖤

"What's wrong with you today?" Whispered Emily, lightly pushing my arm with her leg as I was laying next to her upside down in the bed.

"I'm fine." I groaned, rolling my eyes.

"I can see you're not. Is it linked to the fact that you're clearly avoiding Cathy? Even stucked in this bed I can notice it you know."

Now pressing my palms against my closed eyelids I sighed loudly. "Uh... it has to do with her. Partly."

"What happened?" She exclaimed way too jumpy for her sick self, earning a death glare from me, forcing her to patiently lie down again, waiting for me to explain her.

"Nothing, I don't think she'd like to talk about it."

"OH MY GOD what did you two do?"

"Em' don't shout like that! Let me remind you that you're ill you dumbass." That was the first time I addressed her as Em', which she didn't miss, slightly grinning before going back to our previous subject.
"So what happened?" she now whispered very lowly making me chuckle at her.

"I... you were actually right about her."

"That she likes you? Did she tell you?!"

Because she was being really loud, which shouldn't happen in her state, her auntie's head suddenly appeared at the door, a frown on her face.
"Eheh what's all the shouting for?"

"That's Amanda! If you'd tell me directly what happened I wouldn't freak out like that!" she said, pointing out to me as her aunt's face broke into a smile.
"Please, rest." she finally said, leaving the room but being fully aware this girl wouldn't stop any soon.

The second the door closed her gaze fell on me again as she was now sitting up in the bed. "So?"

I really shouldn't say it, I mean I didn't care.
But I must have hurt her ego or something, because nobody liked rejection.

"You guys kissed right?"

"No! she did it." Great Amanda you just gave her the answer she was looking for. Clever.

Seeing her getting all excited and jumpy I quickly stopped her. "I'm not looking for a relationship."

"Oh. That's why you're avoiding her."
After giving her a nod, I laid again and stared at her ceiling, not really wanting to meet her gaze at the moment.

"I feel bad for her but like... she should have asked right?"

"Maybe she thought you were feeling the same." I silently shrugged, before quickly groaning again.

"My life is such a mess at the moment."

She unexpectedly laughed at me, making me frown. "Life is a mess. Nothing new. But what's important is to not forget the good things happening to you."

"Oh my... when did you become so wise?" I found myself whispering after staring at her for a while.

"I always have been, you're just blind. "

Like the moody child I was, I stuck my tongue out to her, making her chuckle for a few seconds before going back to a serious face. "So what's the other thing upsetting you?"
