Chapter 17

June 29, 2019

Saturday

For the next few days, Ash decides to just stay at Leigh's and work on the Playbill ads and accept the drawings as they come in from Carol or Tom. Finally, the deadline came, Ash got all of the entries in for the contest on Saturday morning. Thanks to Leigh, she let her print all 100 of them out, put them into the 5 different age group categories, and gathered them all up into a few folders to carry. Luckily as she asked, every drawing had a name and age on it. She called Lin and told him that he would get to help pick the winner in each group, but she would have the top five from each group, and bring all of them so he can see them either way.

So that Saturday afternoon, Harry, Leigh, Michelle, Sean, and Ash were around the dining table with one group of pictures at a time since it would be too confusing with all of them at the same time.

"So, we get to pick the top five, Lin picks the winner?" Sean asked.

"Yes. It would be easier to get them all to the top five in each group instead of looking at all of them and deciding which one is the winner," Ash said.

"There is a lot," Michelle said.

Ash nods, "A few entered more than once, which I didn't say they couldn't do."

Leigh studies the group in front of them, "I'll say these are really good artists."

"This group is age 5 to 6. Wait until we get to the high school kids," Ash smiled.

"Do you think parents helped these kids out?" Sean asked.

"If so, it's fine. They got their idea down on paper," Ash said.

They went through each group until they got to the High School kids.

"WOW!" Harry said wide-eyed.

"I know right!" Ash answered smiling.

"These are amazing!" Leigh said excited.

"I can't choose," Michelle said looking at each one. "They are really good."

"See, it's really hard to pick just five," Ash points out.

Harry sighs, "Well, I guess you're going to look for details."

"My guess is picking our favorites, and then you and Lin choose the winner," Leigh said.

Everyone agreed. Since there were five of them, it was just easier to pick one each.

Ash just studied, picturing the drawings as a Playbill for a show.

"I like this one," Michelle said picking one up.

"I like that too," Leigh nods and looks at the table again. "This is hard. I'm glad that I'm not doing the final five with you."

Ash nods, "It's going to be hard to pick the winner in this group for sure. I would let everyone win, but I have to pick one winner, that was the rule of the contest."

Sean nods and grabs to drawings, "Okay, I got my pick."

Ash nods and studies one and picks it up, "This one was the first one I fell in love with."

Leigh looks, "Oh, ya, it's colored like the sky and stars with a moon peeking out."

Harry grabs one, "Okay I can't look; here."
