Loud beeping woke me up. As my eyes opened they were blinded by bright lights. The events of the day run through my mind. I quickly go to clutch my stomach, feeling the bump still there. Looking around I found Beast staring at me with a dark expression.

"The baby?" I ask him immediately.

His hand covers mine over my bump. "Our little girl is doing just fine."

"We're having a girl?"

Beast nods, leaning over to kiss my forehead. "They let it slip out while they were doing the examination."

The doctors came in after realizing that I was awake. They wanted to keep me over night for observation. I was to be on bedrest for the next two weeks just as a precaution. Ray had set up a rotation to stand guard in front of my hospital room to make sure that the attackers didn't try anything here. It was about an hour before I was left alone to rest with Beast still by my side.

He still had a grim expression on his face as he stared at me. He was back to the hardened look of the biker he'd become. You could see the thoughts storming through his head just by one look at him. I knew that he thought this was all his fault. We could've lost the baby if the van had hit us harder or if we flipped.

After a while, Beast stood up and started pacing. Hands went through his hair as he paced, yanking at them. His muscles bulged through his shirt. He looked like he was ready to attack something at any moment. The closest thing I'd seen to this was videos of tigers pacing their cages at zoos.

"Come here." I order him, scooting over in the hospital bed.

At first he tried to protest before I gave him a look. With a grunt he comes over to sit next to me in bed, careful not to disturb any of the wires that were attached to my body. It wasn't comfortable. The bed was too small for his large frame in addition to me. I didn't care though. As soon as he was next to me, I curled up into him.

"Don't shut me out again." I plead with him.

"It's my fault you're in danger." He sighs in a small voice. "I could've lost both of you today."

"We're fine." I assure him. "We'll still be fine as long as you don't shut us out. I don't think I could take it."

Beast grabs my hands, leaning over to kiss my forehead. "No more leaving the clubhouse except for doctor's appointments."

"I understand." I say. "A little girl. We're having a little girl."

"Yeah, let's hope she takes after you." He grunts.

"I dunno, can I see you in a dress before I decide who I want her to look like?" I tease him.

He shakes his head. "Ray already made a comment like that."

We stayed there lying in the hospital bed making small talk for a while. One of his large hands kept stroking the baby bump protectively. I could still see the battle being waged in his head through his dark eyes. I just didn't want him to shut me out again. We were finally making progress only to have this set us back.

Beast remained by my side throughout the night. He didn't sleep. He just sat there watching the door, ready for someone to make a move on me while I was in the hospital. I tried to get him to sleep, but he refused. Ray had guards placed outside the door, but Beast didn't think that was secure enough. He claimed he'd sleep when we got back to the clubhouse. I didn't believe that for a second.

The next morning the doctor's came in to do another exam. They printed out a new ultrasound photo for us. Beast had them print out two for us. One he tucked into the pocket of his leather vest, keeping it close to him. The doctor's gave our little girl a clean bill of health. I was put on bedrest for two weeks, but was encouraged to take light walks to keep active.

The entire club came out to escort us back to the hospital. I sat in the backseat of a van with Beast beside me. One arm was wrapped around me. His free hand rested on the gun that was on his belt. Eyes darted around, looking for any sign of trouble on our way. He didn't relax even when we pulled through the gates of the clubhouse.

Linda and the other old ladies rushed towards me as soon as I was helped out of the van. They all helped me upstairs while the men went to Church for a club meeting. While I was in the hospital, they'd cleaned up Beast's room and bathroom. The pillows had been replaced by fluffy ones.

"Ray let it slip that we're getting a little girl." Linda squealed when I was comfortable on the bed.

My hand went down to the baby bump as a smile spread across my face. "A little princess."

"Orion's pissed about it." Anne laughed. "He and a couple of the guys made bets on it. He lost a couple of hundred betting on a boy."

I couldn't help but laugh at that. "Might be my fault since I'd convinced myself that it was gonna be a boy."

"Like he could get away with blaming you. Beast would beat the shit out of him." She said.

Alice brought out a laptop so that we could look through baby outfits. Now that we knew it was a girl, they were all excited about setting up a baby shower. We all chatted away, gushing over cute little dresses. They even went on one of those sites that you can see what your baby might look like. I couldn't help but stare at the possible combinations with a smile on my face.

The club ordered pizza that night instead of everyone cooking. Prospects brought up a few boxes for us to Beast's room. Apparently most of the men were off on club business, Beast included. No one knew when they'd be back. Like the hospital, I had a guard outside of the room here as well. They weren't going to take any chances on another attack.

I went to bed that night alone. Beast's side of the bed remained cold throughout the night. He wasn't coming home. I knew that. I just hoped that he had listened to my plea about not shutting me out completely.
