"Now wait a damn minute

"Now wait a damn minute.  You mean to tell me your girlfriend's ex boyfriend moved into her house, where they will be living alone for who knows how long, and you're okay?" Alondra asked Spencer, the two walking down the hallway with their arms looped together. "I've been friends with you since before your first girlfriend in second grade, you're lying to yourself."

Spencer's jaw slightly dropped as he and Alondra walked down the hallways of the school together. "You don't even know me like that."

With a grimace on her face, Alondra turned her head to Spencer as they grew closer to approaching his locker. "Our moms have pictures from when we took baths together at one point. I know you better than you know yourself." She stated. "Do you remember how many times I had to drag you off of a guy who so much as breathed wrong in Kia's direction? Now you're somehow okay that your girlfriend is living alone with her ex?"

"That was over a year ago. I'm a different man now."

Now, Alondra looked at Spencer with a blank look on her face, basically smelling the bullshit. "I had to stop you from beating up Jordan after the drug test like a month ago."

"That's different, you're like my sister and he hurt you."

Alondra went to respond, but the voice of one of his teammates entered the conversation and cut her off.  "Sup, guys."  From behind Alondra, JJ and Jordan walked up and JJ was looking down at his phone.

Spencer, who was taking things out of his locker and putting them into his backpack, looked at JJ with his eyebrows furrowed. "Are you really watching that video on repeat?"

"Uh, hell yeah.  Do you see how insane this catch is?  You got the whole country talking about it." JJ turned the phone screen to the group, as if they hadn't watched it multiple times, with a giant smile on his face.

"Bro, we were there." Jordan commented, but still watching the short, 20 second clip of Spencer jumping in the air and catching the football with one arm before taking off running to the end zone.

"Uh, you guys were there. I was not." Alondra stated, maneuvering so she was able to see JJ's phone screen.

"That's because you went to a Benihana place because you wanted to watch them cook."

"JJ, you can't be calling me out.  We're supposed to work against them." Alondra said quietly, momentarily causing the group to look away from the video, Spencer and Jordan looking between the two.

"Anyways, we heard about Asher and Layla. You're really okay with Asher moving in?"

"I don't exactly have a choice." Spencer said, Alondra nodding in the background. "Look, as long as he sticks to his room and out of our way, we straight. Besides, I trust Layla."

"You trusted Kia too." Alondra mindlessly commented, making Spencer pause from putting a binder in his backpack. "Don't look at me like that, it's true."

The group stayed quiet, but when Jordan looked down the hallway, JJ and Alondra followed his gaze. "Spence, just—um, just watch your back with him, okay?" The three walked away, wanting to give Spencer and his girlfriend time, and to get away from Asher because he wasn't exactly on good terms with everyone. "So what are we doing after school?"

"I have football practice." JJ told the two. "Oh you meant— I thought we were just going to the cafe?"

"I have soccer tryouts, then I have to find out what happened in cheer practice, so count me out."

"You've been on the varsity team since freshman year, you'll be fine."

Jordan was walking to the left of Alondra, who was in the middle, and he looked between the both of them in confusion.  "Okay, when did you guys hang out because I didn't even know that?"

JJ and Alondra looked away from each other to look at Jordan.  "After Ripley was at your house, I had Olivia drive me to get food and we ate together since I got the last table."

"You should really see the soccer videos, bro. She could be a kicker."

The three continued walking down the hallway as alondra and JJ modded their heads in unison. Jordan on the other hand, still looked confused because how long could it have possibly taken them to eat food for them to talk about that stuff.  At least that's what he thought, when really sports was the first conversation JJ and Alondra had. They all had the same class next, so they were all walking down the hallway, quite slowly since they were on a 10 minute break.

Mid-conversation, Alondra's phone started ringing, so she reached into her back pocket to pull it out and answered the FaceTime call.  "Qué onda?"

On the other side, Marcos and Antonio were looking through as JJ and Jordan were silently peeking over to be nosy.  "You're still in school?"

"Oh, es el puto que te rompió el corazón ahí?"

With a little side eye, Marcos and Antonio tried to follow her line of vision as if they could see Jordan on her left.  "Quizás..."

"Okay, but where's Spencer?  He still owes me five dollars."

Marcos did a little groan and slapped the back of his little brother's head, much to the amusement of the three Beverly students.  "Nobody cares about your five dollars, Tonio."

× × ×

The girls trying out for the soccer team met in the stadium and much to Alondra's surprise, Madison was there. When the two spotted each other, Madison immediately glared, but Alondra looked at her with a smug smile just to spite her. Everyone that wasn't a freshman started off with the JV players, and Alondra was starting to unintentionally annoy Madison. The first thing the coach had them do was run 2 miles, and Madison was upset that Alondra finished it before her.

By the time she got back to the field, Alondra was already juggling the soccer ball and talking to the varsity players. "You have to teach me how to do that!" One of them commented, watching Alondra juggle with her feet as if it was nothing. "How long have you been playing?"

Madison squinted her eyes at the scene, huffing as she went to grab water from a little tent the coaches had set up. The next thing lined up was drills, and it was really just a way for the coaches to watch everyone's level of footwork. Everyone got split into four teams, since there were 2 different fields, and coincidentally, Madison and Alondra were put on two different teams. However, Alondra also outperformed Madison in that, even making her trip before kicking the ball into the goal. Alondra had a little smirk on her face as she skipped past Madison to join her team back at their starting positions. "You can try again."
