My name is Daniel Guzman, I was born in Mexico as the son of Carolina Solis and Sebastian Guzman, I was also known as Ziggy or Zig, a nickname my mother like to call me, because she had a deep love for David Bowie's music for what I know, I am their only son and I had a happy childhood...had being the keyword.
Everything started to go down the hill when I was 6 years old, I was just starting school and at started to become hard for my dad to support and provide for me and mom, even when my mom had a handful taking care of me she did her best trying to provide money too and help making food and baking sweets for other people, but still money wasn't enough and my father wasn't having it.
Dad started to turn very short temper and that combined with drinking was turning my family life into a war zone, Dad didn't like the way I acted, he said I was "too sensitive" and I needed to "man up" and he didn't like having the help of Mom to provide money, he thought that it was his job as the man of the family to do not hers, this all resulted in continuous discussion between both of them and one night when I was 8 years old, it turned physical and he started hitting my Mom.
I didn't know what to do, I was scare and crying when I saw everything, I tried to call him and telling him to stop and he did for a moment, but then turned to me and started to hit me too telling me "to be a man and take it", it was so painful and Mom seeing this tried to intervene and then my Dad turned to her again.
