I played with my bracelet as I waited for Elijah. I wanted Popeye's, so he stopped to get me food. Popeye's finna make my day.

I left most people on delivered because all they conversation was about was the party. I really need to start using my brain.

I was dumb as well for thinking that shit would pass by Elijah. I'm slow as fuck sometimes.

I got a WhatsApp notification from my mom. I haven't spoken to her in a while. So much for checking up on me all the time.

I press the notification and it was just some sticker. I smile softly.

"Hey Siri call birth giver," I say.

"Calling birth giver."

The phone starts to ring and I wait for her to answer. She picks up and I put the phone on speaker.

"Hello."

"Hi mom, how are you?" I ask.

"Wha you want?"

"Can I not call you and say hello."

"You was not interested in callin mi till I text you," she cusses.

"Ma'am stop wit di dramatics."

"Likkle gyal come off mi phone," she kisses her teeth.

"Whatever, I miss you a little bit," I laugh.

"Goodbye."

"You won't hang up on me," I dare.

My phone beeped and it showed my Home Screen. She actually hang up on me. This woman. I called her back and she answered.

"What," she snaps.

"You play too much," I kiss my teeth.

"Whateva, how is school?"

"It's alright. I'm just happy that I don't have to wake up at six thirty in the morning everyday anymore," I answer.

"I'm glad that you're happy there. Mek sure you ah focus pan them book more."

"I will and classes aren't even that bad. I just have tutor for business," I complain.

"How come?" She asks.

I hear pots moving in the back. She's finna start cooking. That means she is going to hang up on me sooner or later.

"I can't do the maths part, you know I have always been bad at maths."

"Why do you think I made you go extra lessons," she hums.

"I'm not picking that up again," I say.

"You should it may help you more than you think," she advises.

The door opens and I turn. Elijah has the bag of food. The smell fills the car and I take it from him.

"They didn't have Red beans and rice, so I got you extra fries," he says.

I mute my phone.

"I love the fries as well."

"Iris, ah who dat?"

I take the drinks from him and put them in the cup holder. He gets in the car and  goes to say something, but my mom beats him to it.

"Hello?" Mom says.

"I'm on the phone with my mom hold on."

He nods to acknowledge me. I unmute the phone. He starts the car and I put back on my seatbelt.

"Sorry Ma, I was talking to someone," I apologize.

"Mhm hm, but look for something that will help with your maths."
