It's Saturday and today Nkosi and his family are coming to pay lobola. I woke up and felt a bit sick so I ran to the bathroom and I vomited, I've been feeling off lately but it's the first time I vomit. Phiwe runs into the bathroom looking very worried, I flush the toilet, rinse my mouth and hold on to the sink.

Phiwe: Nana kwenzakalani?

Me: It's fine choma ngiright, I think it's something I ate last night.

Phiwe: Okay are you sure?

Me: Yeah.....

Phiwe: Nana umithi?

You: Mithi mina?? Ithi uyadlala..... ima are you serious?
She gives me a look stating that she's not joking
Me: I mean now that I think about it I haven't had my...

Phiwe: I brought a test, I had suspicions everytime you said you were tired emsebenzini kodwa I thought you were just tired from work.

I looked at myself in the mirror confused, "could this be true" "is this really happening" but also it would all make sense.

Phiwe comes with three tests and hands them to me, why she has three I don't know, anyway I pee on them.I turn them upside down, start the timer and we wait together while she holds my hand. We carry on waiting and after what felt like hours the timer goes off, we look at each other and I give Phiwe the go ahead through my eyes. She picked up the test and had a look....

Phiwe: Congratulations mama!!!
she screams, at that moment I felt myself leave my body, I couldn't believe it, I'm brought back to reality when I hear my mom ask what's going on.
Phiwe covers for me and says we are just excited for today and she leaves us.

Phiwe: Mngani uright?

Me: Yeah, I..I just don't know how to fecl.

Phiwe: Aahh friend I'm so happy for you, you're going to be a mommy!!!!

Me: Phiwe shhh.

Phiwe: Ngiyaxolisa mngani.

Me: I'm going to be a mom?
she nods

Me: I'm going to be a mommy.
I start tearing up and Phiwe hugs me as it sinks in that there's a tiny human growing inside of me one that is proof of Nkosi and I's love.

Phiwe: Ouuu mama

After that we decide to get ready for the exciting day ahead "bathi yooh vulela amandwendwe" Nkosi's family came and the negotiations went well, of course there were a few speed bumps and fines but I was now Mrs Ndlovu by tradition. I wore a blue shweshwe print dress earlier with a checkered scarf and now I'm changing into a red mermaid African print dress for the lunch. There was a tent outside decorated, not too big but big enough to fit our close family and friends. Just as I finished my husband, yes I said it my husband came in to get me. He was in a black traditional two piece which matched my dress by having the same material on the hems of the shirt. I walked to the door and met him as some of our aunts were ululating, he leaned into my ear

Nkosi: Umuhle Sthandwa Sam
he whispers and I think I felt our baby doing backflips, we walked and went to the tent where celebrations continued to take place.

Everything went amazingly well, I've been talking to different friends and family and suddenly realize that Nkosi isn't next to me anymore and I didn't realise when he left. I decide to head towards the house to look for him and just as I'm about to enter the kitchen I feel a hand gently pull me to the corner: and I'm immediately attacked with a passionate kiss. Unfortunately for me the pregnancy hormones betray me because I want more and I show it, I feel him smirk.

Nkosi: Someone definitely missed me.
I flatter my eyes open and regain my breathing pattern

Nkosi: Baby uright?

Me: Yeah, I just missed this.

Nkosi: It was only two days.

Me: So?
he chuckles and holds the bottom of my chin

Nkosi: Ngiyakuthanda Mama.
His hand goes and sits on my stomach as if he knows I'm carrying our seed. "oh Lord what is this man doing to me?" I think
