kell & i had some time at the shop before its official closed for remodeling.

we had a big sale this week and we dont have much left but we decided to stay open to the end of the day.

"this is kind of bittersweet."

"im kinda sad." she said.

"i know that the shop will be twice the size but like this one is what way more than what we dreamed of."

i hugged her as the clock hit 4 oclock. one more hour.

"do you miss jack yet?"

"why'd you have to bring him up?"

"because you haven't talked about him in a few days and you're usually going on & on & blah-blah-blah. you know?"

i tilted my head.

"so you with max? how is max?"

"i asked you about jack first." she said.

i sighed.

"tonight the devils home opener and maddie invited me to the game, since the wags got a suite, but i told her i couldn't." i explained.

"liv you could of."

"and miss this party." i said, looking around the shop. "this place is bumping!"

we laughed, knowing we haven't had a customer since lunch.

"i miss him. long distance sucks." i admitted.

"i know."

i hate long distance.

i truly do.

i see all the wags in the box on opening night here at the rock and i know that livs not there.

im sure shes in her couch at home, in my jersey, watching.

oh shit, shes probably in my jersey.

my jersey. a hughes 86 jersey.

shes all mine.

"yo you gonna pass the fucking puck?" luke said, snapping me out of my daydream of imagining liv in nothing else but my jersey.

i got the puck and continued warm up.

-

jack: hey babe

liv: hey cutie

liv: nice goal

jack: first goal of the season for the devs

liv: hot stuff

jack: like you?

liv: 🤭

jack: i was thinking about you

liv: tell me more

jack: the wags had a suite tonight and i kept looking up, maybe youd fly here & surprise me while wearing my jersey

liv: im sorry! you know i wanted to be there. the shop is so stressful right now with all the planning and finances and construction and everything else that comes with owning a shop. today was the last day open for the original shop so it bittersweet, you know? i wanted to be there so bad but i watched from home while wearing your jersey!

jack: those last 8 words was all i needed to hear.

liv: smh

jack: nope my night is complete

liv: how rude of you not to even facetime me

i laughed and immediately facetimed her.

her room was dark.

"i cant see your face." i complained.

"its my bedtime." she groaned.

i could hear her rolling over and a small amount of light illuminating the room.

"better?"

"you still in my jersey?"

she laughed, "no i dont sleep in it."

"i miss you."

"i miss you too."

"whens your schedule open?"

"umm," she thought. "next year."

i chuckled, i know she's stressed over the shop.

"i cant wait to be at the reopening." i said.

"how do you know im stressed?" she asked.

"i can see it on your face."

"oh jack, i cant worry you." she said, hiding her face.

"babe, dont hide."

"aren't you tired? dont you need sleep after that game?"

"id sleep better with you."

she looked up, "id sleep better with you too, but we live 5 hours apart."

i sighed, "that is a problem."

"oh well, im going to sleep."

"oh what did you do tonight that was so tiring?" i joked.

"i watched you play and i was stressed watching babe."

"oh really?" i smirked.

"SHUT UP ALREADY!" luke yelled.

"COME IN HERE AND MAKE ME!" i said back.

"dont start this." she groaned.

"well sleeping beauty, i guess ill let you sleep, since you had the most exhausting day." i joked.

"i love you."

"i love you too, good night baby."

"good night." she smiled before hanging up.
