I was sitting in Klaus's living room, sketching away in one of the new sketchbooks he bought me. Along with a thousand other things that were upstairs in his room. I leaned over and picked up the glass of scotch that I had off the table. I took a drink of the glass as the front door opened. I placed the glass back on the table as Klaus came in with a follower. "Did you have fun?" I asked as he came over to where I sat.

"I did, love," he said as he sat next to me, lifting my legs to lay them across his lap. "And we have a new house guest." He gestured to Hayley, who came in and sat on the chair across from us.

"I see that," I said as I turned back to my book. "And why are you here?" I asked her.

"I need some protection from Katherine." My head tilted up because of the name. The fire next to me flickered a bit. I watched her eyes flinch a bit at the fire.

"Oh, and do you happen to know where she is?" I watched her roll her eyes at my question.

"Nope." She said. "but she did send her lackey after me."

"That's because you are a loose end. That's what happens when you make a deal with Katarina." I sighed as I felt Klaus's hand rest on my knee. "You know because of you; she knew everything that we knew about the cure, and now my brother is dead. So, perhaps you don't need protection from Katherine. Maybe you need it from me." I said as I stood up and left the room. I needed to get away from her. I don't want almost to kill one of Tyler's friends. I walked into another room that supplied alcohol. I stepped up to the glasses and poured myself a drink. I took a deep breath as I watched the clouds roll by out the window.

I listened in on the small conversation that Klaus and Hayley were having over dinner. I rolled my eyes as she seemed to flirt her way with words. I drank the rest of my glass. I walked into the room only to refill my cup. "Sweetheart, why don't you come and join us?" he asked as he turned to me. I glanced over at Hayley, who picked up her glass and took a sip from it as she scooted away a bit.

"But you guys were having such a lovely talk. I didn't want to interrupt." I said as I took a sip from my glass.

"It's fine. Plus, I think you should probably eat something with that," she said as she pointed to my glass. I tilted my head at her. It seemed like she genuinely wanted me to sit with them. I shrugged and sat down in the empty seat.

"Okay, fine. I'm sitting." I sighed as I turned to Hayley. "So, what did Katherine promise you?"

She sighed and leaned forward on the table. "I was in New Orleans trying to find information about my birth parents. Katherine found me and told me she could help."

"An orphan?" Klaus piped in. "Well, that does explain your charming bravado. Abandonment issues will do it every time."

"Like you're one to talk," I commented as Klaus smiled at me.
