I was lying in bed when I opened my eyes the following day. I sighed when I saw the side table to my right. I lay there watching the clouds roll from the window beside the bed. It wasn't long until I realized I wasn't alone. I felt an arm snake around my waist, pulling me into a shirtless chest. My body stiffened. I heard a low chuckle and felt hot air on my neck. "Morning, love. How did you sleep?" He said close to my ear. I remained silent. He placed his lips on my neck, and I shrugged them off. "Come on, sweetheart. I know you are not sleeping." He smirked as his lips traveled down my neck to my shoulder. "At least say morning." I remained quiet. He smiled against my shoulder as I moved my head to look out the window more. "If you don't answer, I could always resort to other methods."

I signed as I watched a small cloud pass the window. "Was her name Cass?" I asked. The minute he heard that name, he flinched. "The original me." I more stated than questioned.

He sighed as he pulled his hand up to intertwine with mine. "Her name was Cassandra." He leaned in and kissed my shoulder again. "Rebekah was the only one who even called her by Cass. The rest of my siblings called her Cassy. Except for me, of course." He explained as he leaned up against the headboard.

"Why don't you talk about her at all?" I asked as I looked at the time. We had to go shopping to help Rebekah fit in with the new world.

"Because you are here. She is you." He said as I turned over to look at him. "The memories may be gone, but that doesn't mean you are any different than before."

"So, I am the same person. Exactly. Nothing has changed." I asked as I placed my arm under my head for support.

"Well, her hair was blonde and wavy. When the sun hit it just right, it would turn almost white. Her lips were the perfect shade of pink. She had fair skin, but it was due to the sun of our settlement. She always walked in confidence and always smiled when she saw me." He described her. I watched his eyes brighten with every word. "But the eyes never changed. They had always been the same beautiful hazel eyes. They always brightened up when you had fun. Always darken when you are upset. But the same hazel that I fell in love with and married." I sighed and sat up in bed.

"Do you think I would still be here if she didn't die?" I carefully asked. I know that talking about her is risky, but I want answers.

"Well, destiny is a funny thing." He smiled. "If it was meant to be, then it will happen. Cassandra was needed to keep my humanity in check and my family together. After she died..." he looked down at my hand. "My family was torn apart, and I was lost and dark. But we all seemed to manage." I felt my heart stop for a moment. It yearned to comfort him, but I made no move to act it out.

"By putting them in coffins?" I stated. His face darkened, then brightened up. He picked up my hand and brought it to his mouth. He kissed it and stared into my eyes.

"I did say your death tore us apart." He signed, then turned to pick up his phone that was vibrating on the table next to the bed.

"Time to get up." He said as he looked down at his phone. He typed away, and a scowl came onto his face. "I got you some clothes. There are in the bags next to the door."

I pushed the covers off my body and stood up from the bed. I walked over to the bags and picked out my outfit. I stepped into the bathroom and jumped in the shower. When I was done, I stepped out and prepared for the day.
