Chapter 19:- The announcement

Serena's POV

I was nervous. The term "butterflies fluttering in my stomach" didn't apply to me. It was like "elephants dancing in my stomach."

Intense knots formed in my stomach as I heard my name announced by the Sultan in the courtroom.

Actually I was curious whether Sutan was pulling my leg. So I sneaked inside the courtroom early morning before the proceedings of the court could commence. I hid behind the giant throne before anyone had arrived.

As soon as everyone arrived, Sultan entered the court and declared his intention. He was dead serious about me being the ruler for the next 10 days.

Almost everyone in the court opposed Sultan. I couldn't see anyone but was able to make out from the voices of the ministers. I couldn't hear Ali's voice. Vizar strongly opposed the presence of women in the courtroom. I understood that the highly powerful ministers of the kingdom were unable to grasp the idea of a simple village girl like me becoming the ruler. It was tough for their ego to be ruled under a women. The kingdom has the history of being indirectly ruled by the women (mostly the mother of the sultan or the wife of the sultan). But that was indirect. And now they had to altogether get used to the idea that now they were directly under my power.

"I thereby, announce that Lady Serena will adorn this throne from tomorrow. I do not wish to hear any other oppositions. The court is adjourned." He declared and left the courtroom. Then I heard the chats of the ministers, criticising such step of the Sultan.

"That girl won't be able to last even for 10 minutes." Laughed Vizar.

I guess the first thing I will do after getting coronated is punching him.

"I can sense the presence of jealousy here." Chuckled a voice. My God that was Ali.

"I am not jealous!" Shouted Vizar:

"You do not need to be jealous. Because jealousy is when both the people are at almost same level. However she is beyond your level. Comparing her with you will be her insult. She is destined to attain greatness!" Snickered Ali:

"You seem to have developed a SPECIAL (emphasis was put into that word)." bond with lady Serena.

"Your mind is too corrupted to understand our relationship my dear Vizar!" He smiled and I could hear the retreating steps of Vizar.

There was no one around in the court except Ali. I was wondering whether I should come out and talk to him. After all, he was in my support. Suddenly I heard the door open.

"Brother, what are you doing here?" Asked Ali as I heard the footsteps intering the room.

"Well, I will miss this throne for the next ten days. So why not to sit here for a while?" Laughed the voice and I instantly recognised that it was Sultan.

"Brother, why did you make Serena the sultan? Don't you know that how much trouble she will go through? Everyone will target her! No one wants a women to directly rule them! She is a simple village girl. Her life is all bout being happy with her family!" He said.

I could sense a brotherly affection in Ali's voice.

"You give me brotherly vibes for her!" Sultan unknowingly voiced my opinion.

"Ya, she is like a little feisty rebel sister I never had. Always ready for trouble!" I could sense a tone of adoration in Ali's voice.

"You like her even after she drove out all the women of the harem? Including lady Venus, who was your favourite?" Sultan questioned him.

"So what? Even you liked Venus. And she had to entertain both of us! Her condition was pathetic and we both were falling apart! Ever since she has left the precinct, I could feel that there is a scope to improve our relationship!" Said Ali and Sultan simply said "hmm" in order to show the approval of Ali's point of view.

"All I want is safety and happiness of that little devil. I don't understand why you want her to rule, even if it is for a brief period?" Asked Ali. Even I was curious about the same.

"I have my own reasons. And trust me, hurting Selena is not my intention. I am doing what is best of people and her." He said as they both walked towards the exit. The doors closed and I could hear zero sound.

I sneaked out of the throne and decided to get out of the place before anyone would notice me. Suddenly the door opened and I was faced with two faces. Sultan and Ali

"Well well well , didn't I just tell you now that someone was hiding behind my throne?" Said Sultan. He seemed to be furious while Ali's face was expressionless.

I knew that I was in a deep trouble.
