Don Campos del Azul y Riera

Father of Elvira d'Almondara and grandfather of Diego d'Almondara and Salvador d'Almondara. He is part of the Barcelona gentry who does not frequent the court of Spain but nevertheless receives the Royal Rent from which his family has benefited for several generations. Conservative in tendency, he does not display his political opinions. An innovator for his time, compared to the nobility who did not work, he was the founder of a prosperous luggage manufacturing company which brought him substantial income. Despite his advanced age, he is in good physical shape and still takes care of the management of his affairs.

Doña Campos del Azul y Riera

Wife of Don Campos, mother of Elvira d'Almondara and grandmother of Diego and Salvador d'Almondara. Of a withdrawn nature, she is entirely devoted to her husband and does not frequent a feminine circle. With age, she rarely travels but entertains at home and devotes most of her time to reading in her garden.

Andrès d'Ortanza

Protected by Don Campos del Azul y Riera who took him under his wing following the death of his parents, friends of the family.

Ruiz

Butler of the Campos del Azul y Riera house. Fifty, single without children, a little worn by time but still neat. He is the essential man of the Campos del Azul y Riera house, which he has administered for many years. Of a rigorous and benevolent nature, he is appreciated by all.

Miguel

One of the youngest servants of the Campos del Azul y Riera house. As he is devoted and curious but above all efficient and full of good will, he is at the same time a valet, porter, bellboy, hunter, and in addition takes care of the horses and the maintenance of the carriages.

Carmen

Apprentice cook at Campos del Azul y Riera. One of the youngest recruits among the servants. She's also Miguel's girlfriend.

Manuela Cortez

Manuela is a farmer in her forties, widowed and childless. Voluntary and innovative, she quickly understood the challenge of pooling efforts and founded a cooperative to bring together agricultural products from the Barcelona region which she then sold on the markets.

Oliver Mc Doherty

Young Briton who studied in Barcelona. He was in contact with Esperanza d'Almondara.

Fernando

Young man still in his twenties, unemployed. His situation is explained by the speech problem which prevented him from finding work and which affects his personal relations. He is not considered a servant but lives with his mother who is the cook of the Campos del Azul y Riera house. He nevertheless participates in some of the activities of the servants and also takes care of the maintenance of the garden of the house.
